Yes!
And how little they know about their particular religious philosophy and dogma -- that is, that Christians have historically been the persecutors, not the persecuted!
What's even more interesting is how popular sado-masochistic pornograpy is in communities with large right-wing Christian groups -- seems the dirty little secret of many of these folks, is that they condemn others on Sunday, and the rest of the week hide out in their bedrooms with fantasies of torture and bondage!
Seems their obsession with bondage and torture themes reveals a deep sexual and psychological need that is common to many religious people -- does this have something to do with potty training?

1st off, you have to remember that christians too, were persecuted for a while way back when they started out. hell, i've read that NERO even liked to impale christians, set them on fire, & use the flaming corpses to light his palace garden.
as for christians persicuting other religions. it's NOT because they're christian, they persicute & hate & discriminate & such because they're HUMAN! people are always conquoring & oppressing people, it's just that christianity has become the biggest scapegoat to use for such inhumanity, which is funny because the modern christian view is that "God &/or Jesus are peace loving folks that only whant the best for all humanity." bullocks. it's all killing in the name of, if it wasn't christianity, then it'll been something else, personally i'd like to see buddhist do some dirty work, that'll be funny to watch.
& as for christians feeling "persecuted" because some bloke wants to say "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas", that's not persicution, that's just being ANAL; as in someone takes little things too seriously.
so it comes down to this, if everybody were to practice what they preach, & leave those who aren't interrrested alone, the world would be a far better place.... BUT IT'S NOT. PEOPLE ARE F*CKED UP, LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT!

They're just claiming persecution because they have been the most privileged group in the U.S. for a long time now. Now people are starting to stand up and say that they're not going to tolerate it anymore. The Christians are being told to move over and make room at the VIP table for others, and they don't like it...one bit.
Throughout history, whenever a privileged group is in danger of losing it's privileged status, they cry persecution. When women were fighting for the right to vote, men claimed they were being persecuted. When blacks were fighting for equal rights, whites claimed they were being persecuted. Now the same thing is happening here. They aren't being PERSECUTED, they're just being told that they can not freely persecute others anymore.

I believe what christians fundamentals consider to be persecution is, in reality just truth, and debate. Far from being persecuted Christians (fundamentals, not the Debra M's and Brians of this world) are in fact the persecutors;
Persecution =
The act or practice of persecuting on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or beliefs that differ from those of the persecutor.
Is this not what Christians are historically guilty of when they castigate Gay people and people of a faith different to their own?
Is their any group of people more deluded than Fundimentals of any faith? As they persecute people whilst bleating of being persecuted I think it is a perfect example of hypocrisy

Yes, it does seem hypocritical. And specifically the examples you mentioned of people wishing Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. Also, it seems the height of hypocrisy for them to cry persecution here on Answers because someone says something crude about Christians or Jesus, when they say the most rude and nasty things about others. Frankly, I think it's time to stop whining and start really talking about the important issues, using sufficiently good manners that we do not get diverted by name-calling and self-righteousness.

Considering that the Polish astronomer Copernicus was imprisioned and tortured for eight years, then led out into the campo del fiore and set on fire for contradicting two bible verses in the book of Joshua by proving the earth revolved around the sun and failing to recant, and then threatened to do the same to Galileo for confirming his findings... I'd say it's VERY hypocritical for modern christians to claim ANY kind of persecution. Not even Jesus went through that.

I think after years and years (or centuries even) of other people claiming to have been persecuted, they feel left out. Never mind that CHRISTIANS were the ones doing the persecuting...

Not at all. In the beginning, they were persecuted. Everything that they believe has remained 2,000 years in the past. Why should their persecution complex be any different. They are unable to evolve to modern times, as evolution is evil in their puny minds.

Yes, particularly when they think nothing of persecuting others who don't share their beliefs or won't convert to their religion -- such as, Rev. Jerry Falwell and his hateful rhetoric about gays being responsible for 9/11 ... things like that. It's fine for them to hurt others with these kinds of statements, but whenever anybody stands for their own rights (and doesn't want their interference), they act like they are being dragged to the lions!

Like Racism, there are different levels of persecution. Some people will merely avoid. While others may play a dirty trick. While others will destroy property. While others might fight. While others might kill.
Just because the most severe acts are not commonly done here, it doesn't mean that there isn't persecution.
