Yes it does, Jesus said "In vain you do worship me teaching for commandments the traditions of men."
If you study God's Word, you can determine what is tradition and what is fact. Avoid man's theories and stick with facts.
Jesus did get a little vocal in rebuking tradition; in fact, He called the hypocrites some words I've never used before.
But He has that prerogative--He was God--and He expects us to reprove, instruct, and correct in righteousness. Yes, we must not avoid controversy because it is distasteful. We might be endorsing error by our silence.
