There really are no more traditions or rules. We are all left to make up our own rules and then try to find another person who's rules match our own. Actually a pretty tough order to fill, I would rather have tradition and rules.
If you feel that bold, ask away. If you are a little shy about it then say to the guy, "If you asked me out, I would probably say yes".

I'm sorry but you have it all wrong. Girls don't ask boys out. It's traditional for a boy to ask you out. Plus I heard that boys hate when you do that. So just wait and that special someome will ask you out.
