find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Every one is different, the "Atkins" type of diet isn't for every one. Count your calorie intake. Eat normal one day and count how many calories you have. Then take that number and shave a few hundred.
Try cutting out all types of soda, or any drink with lots of high fructose corn syrup (sugar). Drink things like V8 splash, Vitamin water and any type of all natural fruit juice
Bake or boil any meat you eat, no fried foods, or grease because the grease just thickens all the lipids that you are already about to consume.
Eat lots and lots of veggies. Veggies are mans best friend. They provide energy, speed up metabolism and give our skin a healthy glow.
Milk is good too 2% milk tastes just like whole milk.
Set a certain cut off time for eating. Something like 2 or 3 hrs before bed is alright. but if you must eat, raw vegetables are a good snack (ex: carrots with low fat ranch dressing)
Walk wherever you can. If its within walking distance and doesn't involve carrying heavy items, then walk it.

All of what I've listed worked for me. Last year I started doing all of that and in one month, I shed 20 pounds. (I promise!) and the best part about it is I feel better, I look wonderful and the acne I used to have, is non existent

There is the possibility that you might be eating too much fat from your protein sources. Eat lean cuts of meat(chicken breast, turkey breast, fish, etc) and eat lots of veggies.

Maybe your body needs some carbs. Feed yourself a few "healthy" carbs like brown rice, 100% whole wheat bread or oatmeal and see if you don't drop weight faster!

Good Luck

when trying to lose weight, you should not focus in on only one area. everything should balance out. reduce fat, calorie, sugar, and carb intake. eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. even though they contain carbs, they are the good natural kind that your body appreciates. shoot for the complex carbs that don't break down and get stored as fat the way sugary carbs found in white rice or white potatoes do. sweet potatoes are not high-carb and they keep you feeling full. try pairing one with some low-fat cottage cheese as a meal. it is very satisfying. i eat this with non-calorie butter spray and it keeps me from noshing on other things. also make sure you get lean protein from things like grilled chicken breasts and turkey (like lunchmeat). get in your dairy w/ low-fat yogurt and remember to watch the sugar. my rule is never over 10g per serving and that goes for things like powerbars too. you can also drink skim milk or low-fat soymilk. i recommend shooting for 20 to 25 grams of fat each day for weight loss. this is achievable without feeling deprived. as for calories, this really depends on how much you burn each day (ie. your activity level). basically if you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight and store the extra as fat. if you burn as much as you eat then you'll maintain your weight. and lastly, by burning more than you eat, you lose weight. there are websites that can assist you with this by telling you how much you burn by entering you height, weight, and activity level...they will tell you how much you should be eating. but when you diet, never go below 1200, they say that is the minimum for losing weight safely. don't worry so much about losing weight. you might be stressing too much and sabotaging your own efforts. worry more about being healthy and happy, then everything else will fall into place. trust me, i know...i've done this all and it works. just give it time.

It's because a low carb diet isn't designed for continual weight-loss.

You might be converting your fat to muscle and therefore you will not notice a dramatic weight change. Try taking your body measurements and see if you are losing inches... Also make sure your fat content is also staying under control, and you are drinking plenty of water..

cardio helps. you can't expect that one excersize will do it all. and if you are eating a lot of sugars (and high fructose corn syrup) then that adds to it all too.
