I woke up one morning when I was supposed to sing (bass) with a really raw throat and loads of mucus. My mom made a concoction involving fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice (right off the tree even - I was very fortunate) and lots of honey. About 16-24 ounces altogether.
I had to constantly mix it up because the honey kept settling.
The acid in the grapefruit juice was supposed to break up the mucus while the honey was supposed to soothe the raw throat.
I downed about 1/2 of it in the hour before starting and took another gulp or two between songs.
Afterward, I was congratulated for an excellent performance.
I suppose it didn't hurt that I was with a religious ensemble so I was "singing to God."

Drink lots of water, it thins out the mucus and makes it easy to hack up. You should avoid all dairy until the mucus is 100% gone. Get some Mucinex, so you can get the gunk out. It's an over the counter way to rid yourself of mucus. If you are sleeping with the windows open, stop it. You could have allergies, so keep that in mind. You might also have to start taking one 30mg generic sudafed every morning, that'll help. That'll clear up any goo you have for sure.

I'm a singer too. In three days your voice should be noticeably better because...well...time. And yes, gargling with salt water will help a bit. And Chamomile tea. Fresh Cherries are supposed to help too. But if you are still pretty sick you should take it easy on your voice until you get better, by either, not singing as loud at your gig or even cancelling if that is a possibility. You don't want to overextend your voice and end up with larangitis which takes forever to go away!

Gargle with warm salt water when your throat feels "jammed". Eat lemons, cider vinegar or pickles before you go to bed... it helps your immune system. You can put apple cider into weak tea or just drink pickle juice... just an ounce or two will do it. Be sure to not eat sugar until you are recovered. Keep warm, your throat should also keep warm, perhaps put menthol on it to help soothe and heal.

im a singer myself and eating things is not going to help. Try soup and other warm liquids. However if u want to get rid of the music do some humming warmup exercises...the humming will shake the mucus off your throat....try it

If you can tolerate it, don't skimp on the Tabasco sauce on your food (spicy stuff usually works for me). I would probably drink hot tea with lemon and honey, too.

Honey tea and expectorant. You have to get it up. Don't force it up because you will make you cords raw. make sure you drink plenty of water.
