Maybe good, because i think its a way to meet people that you might never have a chance to meet.

As with most situations that require volunteered feedback, you will always hear more bad stories than good. People who have good experiences are happy with the person they have met and have no reason to make a claim for any website on their success. While the ones who have horrible experiences make sure that everyone knows what happened. So when looking at everyones answers on here, be very skeptical, because a lot of the time they are going by the few (and most likely only) instances where they heard about a bad experience.

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. It may not do you much good, being at home still. But if you were out on your own and can travel and set up meet and greets, it can be fun and more efficient than going to parties, blind dates etc. Most people hear about the 1% or less encounters that end with someone getting hacked to little pieces. But if you look at how many dating sights out there and how many members those sights have. The bad in them would be like the same as those who die in jet crashes compared to all those that do fly. So, it comes down if you feel you are one of the lucky ones or not. With the right precautions you have more control of your safety than sitting in business class on some jet. You can meet in seperate cars at a venue that has security cameras, lots of people. You can even have a friend tail you at a distance. With cell phones now you can tell them exactly where you are going and they can hover from a distance to see how things go. I think the good outweight the bad.

I used to be so, so against it! But, I've made some awesome friends, and perhaps one or two "potential bfs" but it's still early on thus far... But, there are WAAAAY too many freaks out there to rely on some online date site to stay true to their safety warnings... Ya never know what you'll get, and it may be too late to save yourself when the time comes... I suggest using the "buddy system" (I was a girl scout!) and having a friend go along on the first couple o'dates... Can never be too safe!

Both!
Also serious in some cases.
So you have to weigh up what you are looking for out of those, fun, friendship, love or penfriend.
You have to be careful who you meet outside of here, and when you have made that decision it is best to tell someone else where you are going and arrange to meet your date in a public place, with a description of what they will be wearing on the night,so you can identify them(and someone else) in case it goes pear shape!
A mobile no. would be useful,so that when you get there if you dont like him or the look of him,you can phone him across the road or round the corner and tell them you can t come(for whatever reason you want to ),also wear something different to what you say to him your coming in,and if you decide to meet him and he says oh i thought u were going to wear a red dress, you say to him i got lipstick, drink whatever on it,so you decided to wear another dress(or had to).
So see how that goes, and it keeps you safer as well.

Online dating ... well, as long as you get to meet the person within a reasonable amount of time to make sure they say who they say they are.

Try and stay within your own state, and city if you can. Don't get involved with out of the country people because chances are you'' never met.

Don't give out too much information or get involved with the cyber sex issue because let's face it .... your typing to a computer monitor and not a real person. You have no clue who is on the other end. People like to play weird mind games because they hide behind a computer monitor.

well, it is a way to share you feelings , so others can see what your all about. but those photos can end a good thing, before any chence of hope comes around.
fun if it works. bad if your still lonely, and yah it still is pain full, I know.

I met my wife that way. So it's not bad.

Fun? No... dating sucks.

It takes some patience to find the right person. I met a couple dozen people before I found my wife. It took about a year.

I met my ex in the internet.Just be very careful. It can be fun but don't trust it too much.Majority of dudes online are cheating on their women or they are major idiots.Just don't trust anybody like that like you should do outside the internet.

I think it is potentially dangerous, even with things like the famous e-dating service. I always liked being able to get to know people IRT...and having been married for 15 years, I'd say that approach worked for me.

Only meet in a public place with a friend close by to observe. Have a hand signal that if you need an "out" they will call your cell.
