here is a really good site to adopt a solider a solider himself started the site it takes about a week to get your soldiers information but mine e-mails me about once a week.http://www.adoptaussoldier.org/index.html
don't send flea collars that is disrespectful and mean. i cant believe someone would have that idea in there head and try to tell someone about it.
DO NOT send any ting with pork product or pornographic materials!!. You can send powdered drink mixes and anything that's non perishable like all beef jerky pop tarts cereal bars pudding, cookies, slimjims, rice Krispy treats. use common sense don't send anything that will mold or make a big mess. if you decided to send hygiene products make sure you tape your caps of bottles well and put them in a plastic bag in case they burst during shipment it will not be everywhere. you can send lil novelty toys like bouncy balls and Nerf balls to them.
don't send them sox or under where either the army requires soliders to wear special socks to go with there uniform. they cant wear the tee shirts either again the army requires them to wear special tee shirts that go with there uniforms the soliders will have no use for socks underwhere or teeshirts that they cant wear.
you can send candy but try to send hard candies during the summer months something that can withstand the heat. you can send the softer candies during the colder months of the year because they have less of a chance of melting.
I have a husband deployed in Iraq right now and i do adopt soldiers also.

i'm particular that your husband is busy working confusing and is under pressure as nicely. I nevertheless do no longer think of it truly is any excuse to handle you like crap. I easily have an exact chum whose husband is a medic in the army and went on a 15 month excursion, he on no account dealt with her like crap and recognized it a privilege each and every 2d he had to talk together with her as she did with him. i understand yet another gal whose husband those days enlisted and would not call her and is spending all of their money in Iraq. This habit is bull and you mustn't could desire to take it. i would not scream at him or do something to reason extra rigidity, yet do shield your person and attempt to alter into financially self sustaining in some way. as long as you're actually not "stepping out" , you haven't any longer any reason to experience responsible. whilst a husband deploys it takes a toll on the entire kinfolk no longer only the soldier. he's a grown guy no longer a sufferer.

Batteries, DVDs, Books/magazines, nack foods, drink mixes, Send flea collars to help keep sand fleas (from what I hear). Send extra shirts, socks, underwear etc... Small fan...
If you didn't know already you can save some money by using a flat rate box from the post office to send parcels. If you are planning to send something heavey. You can pack anyything in the box and it doesn't matter how much it weighs, as long as it doesn't alter the shape.

Go to USO, YMCA or local Red Cross....
Just about anything you can think of, like toothbrush, Kim whips, cookies and coolaid, but don't send soft candy, glass bottles or can goods, anything metal may cause a problem in shipping....

Start at your local military installation or recruiters office for information on where to send packages. As for what to put in them, anything and everything. Personal hygeine items, comfort items, dry drink mixes, snacks, magazines, books, anything that you think you would need.
