I had my tragus pierced the other day (cartlidge bit in your ear that joins onto your head!) and i like it but eveyone that has seen it has said its disgusting and the dont like it, some have even said it behind my back. I wasnt too worried but now i think that people opinions have changed about me and that they will think im less of a good person now i have had it done. does that make any sense to anybody? what should i do? experiance or opinions welcome, thanks for your help!

Most definitely, piercings where people can see them will change how they look at you. When you're walking down the street, and see someone with a nose piercing, I'm sure it makes your brain react differently to that person than it would to a person without the piercing.
That said, it's not necessarily a negative change. Some will probably think it's not so great...some will think it's the neatest thing since sliced bread. Beauty is, after all, in the eye of the beholder.
If you like it, then that's really the key.

that's ridiculous! I have my tragus pierced (along with some other places)and everyone said they liked it. It's a really cool place to have pierced! people are just narrow minded. Why be like everyone else? You are letting your individuality shine through. Anyway they are probably jealous because you had the guts to get it done in the first place, it's not an easy place to get pierced, it does hurt as you may know!
The only opposition I had when I first started getting pierced was my family, my gran didn't like my labret or nose ring , she moaned a bit at first but now even they accept them as part of who I am. yeah sometimes I get called a "goth"for it but it's only in a playful way.
Don't succumb to their pressure,leave it in and be proud of who you are :)

Hello sorry to hear people have been saying these things... I've got that and others including my right industrial and i get people lookin at it either in wonder or disgust, but It's your ear and if you're happy with it then others shouldn't matter. Be proud of it and don't let others hold you back from something you really want! Some people react badly to things they're not used to.

It depends on the piercing and it depends on the person.You have to look at it both ways.But piercings that really dont accentuate the face [cartilage,belly button,etc] does minimal change on the looks of a person.
Some people say these things to you because they dont really approve of piercings themselves,so they just think piercings look bad on EVERYBODY.Dont sweat it.Some just say things like that because they want one but they cant get it for some reason or another and they are just simply jealous!Im serious!It happens,from mine and my friend's experiences!
I got a nose piercing just a week ago.Some people dont like it,some people love it!As for your tragus piercing,I personally like them alot and want one done myself.They look awesome especially with a nice showy captive ring on it.
So dont mind opinions,and Godspeed!!

Express yourself. People have to get over it!
If they are so shallow that their opinion of you will be affected by what is basically an earring- how sad are they.
My own piercing is of a more intimate nature, so there's no public perception issue- but who cares?

Don't stress about what other people think or you'll end up living you're entire life on their say so. As long as you are happy with it, pierce what you want. It is, after all, your body.

its better than facial piercings. Where I work you are not allowed to have any piercings on your face - not even your nose. I think its okay - if your comfortable why worry about what other people think.

They wont think any less of you, they just dont like it. Like some people might not like a tattoo or a pair of shoes.

i dont have experience but you shouldnt listen to what other people think and i know it is hard but just try to let it go have you ever considered that maybe people are jealous of you? cuz maybe you look cool or something?
