I am 17 years old, am five foot three, and am 100 pounds. However, I cannot start a period, but I am comftorable in my own skin, even though everyone wants me to gain. (including my parents). I eat healthy, but nobody believes me cuz they think I'm underweight. I eat six small meals a day. They pressure me like crazy to gain and say that I am going to have serious problems if I continue to not gain. Help!

as long as you feel healthy who cares what people say! when i was 17 i weighed about the same. i gained so much weight because people would say i'm too skinny. guess what, i wish i was that thin again.

if you're healthy and you like the way you look, dont worry about it. its great that you eat your 6 meals a day.

It's NORMAL to be skinny when you're 17 . . . aren't you TALLER than you were like five years ago? But 100 pounds is plenty anyway. The supposed ideal weight for a woman 25 years old at your height is 108-144 pounds, and you're close enough to that that no one should be worried about it even if you were 25.

Being underweight (or overweight) is only a problem if it makes you physically weak. If you feel strong and can jump around, lift things, run, and not get exhausted at the end of a normal day, that's a pretty good indication that you're at a healthy weight. And even if you decide you are a little underweight, the health consequences of stuffing yourself to try to gain weight are far more serious than those of being a little underweight. So be patient and do the right thing for yourself regardless of what anyone tells you.

That is a little low...what you should do is when you are eating your 6 meals a day don't eat more just change the foods to be higher protein foods. You must have a really fast metabolism and you need extra protein. It will help you very much. Chicken, turkey, and soy protein would be the best.

wow...you cant have one?? thats so weird....i am naturally thin too and ppl are always telling me to gain weight. i eat more than any of them, but its just a fast metablism. some ppl tell me im lucky that im skinny but for some reason, i hate it. i dont want people to think im anorexic or something. what matters is if you are healthy. dont listen to them.
p.s. im 5'5'' and 105 pds. not good =(

As long as you are eating right and getting your daily nutrients and vitamins I don't see nothing wrong with your weight.

Your not very tall so I wouldn't worry about it. If you were taller I would be more worried.

It is your body not theirs. Eat for yourself, not for others.
