Ask your doctor for a consult with an opthalmologist. He/she will examine the eyeball, inside and around both eyelids, etc.
My sons " pinkeye " turned out to be a growth on his eyeball, which did not respond to treatment and had to be surgically removed. [ he was 9 yrs. old, my husband was deployed, his 5 yr. old brother had the chicken pox, and my dad died in middle of all this! ]
You could also be allergenic to your contact lenses, or the solution, or your makeup...
Also ask if another medication might be more effective.

Have you been going to an MD, optometrist, or ophthalmologist with your eye problem? If you have been treated by your MD only, then your next step is to see your local optometrist or ophthalmologist. There are actually very few cases of true "pink eye". "Pink eye" is actually very, very rare. You probably have some other kind of eye infection going on. Your MD doesn't have specialized equipment for viewing they eye, and many times eye infections can be misdiagnosed as a result of this.
I have seen this happen in our office. We used to see it more frequently until we developed a good relationship with many of the MDs in our area. Now, those MDs won't even try to treat an eye problem. They send the patients directly to us.

And yes, you can go to an optometrist to be treated for an eye infection. Many are under the misconception that optometrists only prescribe glasses or contacts. This is very untrue. Over 60% of our practice is medical eye conditions. A good optometrist will refer you to an ophthalmologist if the problem is beyond their expertise.

Hello,

The one thing I did not read here is this: give your eyes a break from contacts!. If you have the most minimal sign of pink eye (even if your eye is not pink all the time), your contact gets contaminated almost instantly therefore continuing the cycle of not getting better. Wear glasses for a while, specially while using meds and only go back to contact lenses once your doctor has cleared you from pink eye.

Blessings,

If you continue to get pink eye so frequently, and it wont clear up you should see a specialist to make sure that it isn't something more than regular pink eye.

Make sure theres not something in the medicine the doctors are giving you to treat it that you are allergic to. Sometimes there maybe be an ingredient used that you don't realize is in the drops or whatever it is they are prescribing you.

People with dry eye can have problems with conjunctivitus recurring but i'd imagine if you wear contacts your optician would have noticed this condition quickly so i guess i don't really know what i'm talking about do I?
