If it is true and backed by statistics, then no it is just a statement of facts. Neither the word "Mexican" or Arab" is considered to be a racial slur, this is the proper name for someone of that heritage. If it is an opinion based on the officer's prejudice or hatred of either of these ethnic groups, then yes it is out of line.

If your area is predominately Mexican and/or Arab, statistically it stands to reason that they would be committing the majority of the crime in that area. However, being Mexican or Arabic dose NOT mean one is any more prone to commit a crime then any other race!

Update:
I just checked out your 360, it appears we live in the same state, and not really all that far from each other either! I do know we have large Mexican and Arabic community's and that these community's continue to grow despite our recessive economy, so it stands to reason that the crime rate among these ethnicity's would be on the incline.

Why in the world would you say he spoke improperly just because he was citing statistics? This isn't some average Joe you are talking to. The police officer knows precisely what is happening in the community. He was merely telling you the cause of the increase in crime. Is it unpalatable for you that the true source of the crime spike is Mexicans and Arabs?

Would you have raised an eyebrow if he had said, "Those darn white people from Utah who just moved in are responsible for the escalation in auto theft".

It seems to me you are implying racism or some other such thing just because he identified the true culprits.

No he wasn't, people are entitled to speak their opinions freely, or at least they should be. I am mexican/hsipanic and am not offended. I realize that a lot of times that statement can be true. Look at Los Angeles and California, where I live, Mexicans, African Americans, even Whites in certain areas commit a majority of crimes. We set our selves up and contribute to studies just to become another statistic. If we start paying attention and ignoring pressure we can be somebody and not just a number on a graph.

Not if it can be proved by arrest reports. Officers go by a Standard Operating Procedure manual. What might seem out of line to the citizen on the street is usually not considered so in the manual.

It sounds like he let his alligator mouth overload his tadpole butt. People are responsible for the actions - period. Their race doesn't make them commit crimes. Rental property does tend to lower property value, because a more transient type of people move into a neighborhood. That just means they won't take as much care of the outside of the house as the inside - because it doesn't belong to them. If the landowner took proper care, it wouldn't lower property value. Again, not a race issue. It's a people taking responsibility issue.

Nope he did no longer something incorrect. As a felon, your husband isn't allowed to be in custody of firearms. in this occasion, he replaced into in a motor vehicle with weapons. The cop can somewhat anticipate that everywhere they have been going, they have been utilizing those weapons for something and is not any longer in uncomplicated terms going to take your husband and his friends observe that your husband did no longer use them. right here is the language top from OR regulation approximately what's a criminal offense: "somebody who has been convicted of a legal under the regulation of this state or the different state, or who has been convicted of a legal under the guidelines of the government of united statesa., who owns or has in the guy’s possession or under the guy’s custody or administration any firearm commits the crime of felon in possession of a firearm." that's functional for the cop to anticipate that your husband replaced into controlling a firearm. the region so you might straighten up this venture is in courtroom, however the cop did no longer no longer something incorrect whether the courts vindicate your husband. it is your husband's fault. He is familiar with that he has a gun limit and yet he nevertheless went out with people who have been taking photos issues, or could in all possibility shoot issues/ the main functional direction of action isn't whining appropriate to the cop doing his activity, yet to your husband to easily no longer be everywhere close to weapons.

Stating a personal opinion is part of our freedom of speech. If what the officer said inflamed you so get in touch with internal affairs and report this guy, or gal, but remember they are on the front lines, and this may not have been an opinion, but a statement of what he or she is dealing with daily.
