Hello. I play a lot of soccer and have really bad lower back pain. This happened last summer. Whenever i lifted my right leg i would get this pain on the lower right side of my back above my ***. My doctor told me to put ice and take ibuprofen. After i did that it stopped. Now its on the left side and i did what my doctor told me but it wont stop now.. I always did crunches and stopped about 1 month ago and started running. i want to know if the running injured my back or if my abdomen isnt strong enough after i stopped doing crunches? Should i start doing crunches or stop any physical activities? Thank you

you should take a break for a few days from any physical activities. The pain in your back is telling you something is wrong. Use an ice pack on your back for fifteen minutes several times a day.

Dehydration can cause severe pain in the muscles. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously.

I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body. One tip for athletes: it is healthier to drink a sports drink or water than fruit juice, soda, coffee, or milk during competition or active training periods.

If this continues consult your medical doctor.

I have had back pain since I was around 14. The last time I went to the doctor, I explained to him that my lower left side of my back was hurting, and at times it would go down my leg. He told me it was a strained muscle and to just be careful for the next couple of weeks. Well, it never got better, so he ordered an MRI. It turned out that I had herniated discs, arthritis, and a pinched nerve in my back. I hope this isn't what's going on with you, but if it is, your doctor will probably have you go to physical therapy to rebuild your back muscles. That's what's helped me. And with my back injury, a heating pad has always helped me feel a lot better. So until you see your doctor again, I wouldn't do any physical activity to prevent any further injury. And I would recommend going back to your doctor and explaining to him the pain medicine and ice isn't working.

How did you get to be a heavy smoker by 17? First there is a differance in chest pain(heart) and pain that just happenes to be located in the chest. Did the pain go down the Left arm? located on L side of chest. Are you sweating? Could you have pulled a muscle? stomache pain? Drink some milk dose it do anything? Family history of heart problems? If any doubt go to a MD
