Some of us would like to think that it was, myself included. You could buy some medication and have real excuse for your actions, and people would not expect much from you, because you suffer from this malady ! Sorry but the smack in the head has been tried for eons, and experts say it does no good what so ever,so the research is ongoing. Perhaps someday the cure will be found. Take care. SW RNP

Stupidity seems like a disease because it appears to be contagious. And, sadly, a smack in the head with a thick book has little effect to true stupidity.

Should I smack you in the head with a thick book so we can find out?

stupidity should be a disease. Depending on how hard you hit the person with the book, it can be alleviated for seconds to minutes. If you open the book however, and make them read it, stupidity can be overcome with time and repetition. If all else fails... its lobotomy time

Nah. It's all relative. After all, no human (except those who can't take care of themselves) are as dumb as say, a lion or a flatworm. Basically, if you can say one sentense, you're already smarter than every other animal on the planet :).

Besides, if you gave everyone who's "stupid" a brain implant, it'd just shift the definition of stupid, not necessarily "cure" it.

I wish. If it were a disease at least there would be hope for a cure!
