considered declaring war of religion?

Also, how many religions would survive having to pay full taxes on their property, incomes, and holdings?

The Vatican would not be taxed because it is considered an independent city/state, State of the Vatican City, with its own embassies. It is the only country with formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan, as no one else wants to piss off China.

wouldn't that make Italy the richest country in the world? It is certainly a possibility as the global economy goes down, that governments will turn their attentions to the biggest incomers of all time. Religions. I live in Greece that is about 45% of the population over seventy! When they die (this has been going on for hundreds of years) they give all they have to the church. There is a monastary here that owns most of eastern Crete, and considered one of the richest in Europe! I'm sure just a fraction of what they have would help Greece's economy. And since orthodox priests have their tentacles into EVERYTHING here, I think they should pay through the nose. Bring on the Great Tribulation!

It would help to bring the myth of separation of church and state closer to reality. I am sure the several churches would see it as a declaration of war on them, but they always distort things out of proportion. Religion today is big business and the churches should pay taxes

Some people would probably consider it "declaring war on religion" - but some religious people think they're being persecuted because the public schools haven't (all) agreed to teach mythology in science class.

I think religious institutions should absolutely be taxed.

Maybe you are mixing religions up with congregations? I don't think religions make money. But I'm sure many congregations would not survive. The church wouldn't die though... it has survived 2000 years because it doesn't need money to survive. The church can meet in homes, corners, anywhere. The church is simply people who believe in Christ (the called out). Any "religion" that would die without money probably isn't worthy of "living" anyway. Well, at least that's my opinion...

Be blessed!

They should pay taxes. I'm sure they would see it as declaring war but it's not.

Heck if they had to pay taxes a lot of places would go under.

Taxing non profits would be double taxing their members. Also, churches in most countries are taxed on profit making properties, etc.

The honest small ones would not mind,,,but old Bennie Hinn,The Bakers, all the fake preachers, with all the loot from poor widow women and the simple minded would really pitch a hissy fit.

Mormonism would just require more tithings as would christianity. Scientology would just continue not paying taxes like it did several times in it's history.

Considering that the Church is made up of the People...and those People already pay a boat load of taxes...it would be wrong.
