The church I started going to is a non denominational, but they have worship music and speak in tounges like pentecostals. They don't go by the pentecostal rules like not cutting your hair, etc. Is that what non denominational is?

Yes non-denominational does not deny the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They simply do not follow the doctrines of a denomination.

The non-denominational has to do with church order being controlled and limited to the local assembly. Each assembly votes for the pastor and trustees. The pastor, appoints deacons, associate pastor, etc., but does not answer to anyone but the assembly.

Each group usually functions with a set of by-laws and a tax exempt status with the IRS. They may or may not have a written creed other than to define themselves as existing for religious services and functions. As noted elsewhere many pattern after Baptist order and Pentecostal order to some extent.

Many of the non-franchise non-denominationals are built around a pastor and several active families who provide key support. Many of these groups started in homes as did the early church. Some have proceeded to build worship centers while others continue to worship in homes or other facilities.

Cutting your hair and dressing like men, women pastors and a few others items are neither denominational or non-denominational -- they are simply not according to scripture.

Yes.
"Non-denominational" does not mean that they have transcended denominations - it just means that they are independent. Most (if not all) non-denominational church are either Pentecostal or (rarely) Baptist in their make-up. The only difference is that the preacher does not attend a conference in the city every six months.

Most non denominational churches tend to lean more one way then the other. I went to one for a few years that went a little Baptist then anything else. So it just depends on where the congregation came from and what they want. In truth no I don't think there is a true non denominational church.

non-denom usually means that the church you are attending has the freedom to create its own church 'government' or its own form or leadership as they feel led by God to do.

A denominational fellowship will usually have a district and regional government that helps to oversee a basic structure of what a Pastor and Assistant Pastor can and can not do within their assigned church.

They usually make the Pastors vow some sort of agreement so far as church bi-laws and statements of faith so that the head of the denomination knows that each church is being taught the same basic principles.

Hopefully, what ever is decided upon, those who are in charge are Godly men and are humble servants allowing themselves to be led by the Lord in all they say and do.

Non-denominational is exactly what it states...it has no denominational affiliation.

There are some non-denominational churches that are closer to Baptist, some are close to Pentecostal, etc.

Non-denominational just means they do not associate themselves with any known denomination. They are kind of a melting pot religion. It's kind of up to the leader to decide on scripture, what will and won't be done during services etc.

Nondenominational - usually - are "new testament churches" or churches that don't follow a specific religion but adhere to the teachings of Christ.

Our church has worship music - loud rock & roll worship music. I am sure some people pray in tongues, but just to themselves - not out loud for everyone to hear. I have never heard of that in nondenominational churches.

However, our church is nondenominational AND "Church of God" which could make it different than some.

Yes. It's the sect of pentecostals that like to wear makeup, wear rhinestone "JESUS" pins, sing off of lyrics on overhead projectors instead of hymnals and for some reason they like to dye their hair pink.
