Getting ready to have this test ran. Is it painful? What should I expect?

I have had one, and it wasn't that bad. It does hurt a bit, but you should be alright. I asked the Dr to use flouroscopy to guide him instead of him going in blind, and all went well for me. The technicians drew a grid on my side, and then used this spring loaded device that kinda feels like a little tap to the side, beside that you will barely feel a thing. You will feel the pressure more than you will feel the pain. After-wards you have to remain laying down for several hours due to the vascular nature of the liver, it's to make sure all bleeding stops. I think you will be all right with the biopsy.

They will give you a local to numb the area. After that takes effect they will do the biopsy. It is a little painful but not much. I had more pain after 30 minutes or so like in the shoulder area but a couple of percocets nocked that out quick. It is better the next day.as the pain eases up 6 or 8 hours after.
