Grease, Hairspray, or West Side Story would be the most similar, but if they consider WSS controversial then you must have a conservative audience. Thoroughly Modern Millie & Anything Goes have lots of dance, tap inparticular and should please your audience. High School Musical is giving the rights to just about anyone who wants them and it's Disney so I would imagine that would be ok. Beauty and the Beast could also work as long as we're on the Disney note :-) I think Bye Bye Birdie is also a good choice.
Good luck!

CATS and West Side Story were actually the first ones that came to mind...but if you cannot decide between them, Grease or Fiddler on the Roof might work well. Best wishes.

Grease
Chicago...but that's a huuge production, depends on your school
Cats is fun but there isn't alot of dancing dancing
West Side Story is nice
My school recently did Gypsy and that had a huge cast and lots of dancing...another musical we recently did with dancing was Wonderful Town

Seussical the musical has a variety of characters. as does crazy for you. most are good as they will generally have a chorus. depends on the abilities of the actors when it comes to dancing and the copywright being available.
