Hi

Sounds like a great trip. Unfortunately, since you are doing a pre-cruise stay and, I'm assuming, not something booked through the cruise lines, then the only way you can use their transfers, is by going back out to the airport and catching them there.

Since you are staying near the train station, I would recommend taking a taxi to the train station, take the train to
Civitavecchia, and a very short cab ride to the ship.

The travel times and train fares vary depending on what time you are traveling and can range from $17-26 per person for first class. There is a train that leaves just after noon and arrives in Civitavecchia in 1/2 hour. You can purchase your tickets (in dollars) in the US before you go, or at the train station in Rome. Purchasing here is usually a much better deal.

Not only is this much less expensive than the cruise line's transfer (even if you include cab fare at both ends), but its much quicker, a nicer ride, no worries about traffic and missing the ship. The only item I will caution you about will be you will have to load and unload your luggage on the train. The stations have luggage carts (like at the airport), but there are no porters.

Have a good trip. If you have any questions, call me at 866-485-8175 - I'm an agent and will be glad to help you.

The cruise port is a good hour long drive from downtown Rome. Its a good highway but you can get stuck in traffic; we did. You can take a taxi probably but it will also probably cost you big bucks. So I suggest that if you are booking a cruise you include transfers to and from Rome to the port. That way the cruise line will not leave you; since they will be responsible for the bus and they do wait on their tour and transfer buses

If you are coming from the airport or near it I would recommend that you get the cruise line to pick you up. They offer transfers for most all airport to the cruise port. They are usually about the same or less than a taxi would be and then the cruise line also knows that you are there and the chances of you missing the cruise is very low.

you're approximately ninety minutes out of Rome from Civitavecchia, and a around trip taxi could probable cost you a minimum of a pair hundred Euro. you do no longer say what deliver you're on yet maximum important cruise strains supply shore excursions to Rome, the place a number of them are extra of an "on your person" the place they get you there and get you decrease back. yet something of the time you're able to do what ever you like. i could quite advise you consult with the cruise team to make certain in the event that they have any openings for any excursions. You do have the alternative of going to Rome on your person via the prepare. however the Italian prepare equipment isn't one hundred% sturdy, and being that far-off could be a great venture if there's a venture. as a results of fact the deliver won't look ahead to you. So jointly as the deliver day out could be extra desirable than doing it on your person, for this port that's probable worth it. additionally, notice that except you're on a suitable excursion the Queue to the Vatican can often be a million-2(or extra) hours. so which you may desire to take that under consideration to your timing.
