Atheists....I have a question....how can you look at a sunset...or into the mountains or in nature anywhere..how can u look at it and say that a BIG BANG or EVOLUTION created this? or how can you say....that there is no god?
and have u heard the phrase, ' I would rather believe there is a god and die to find out there isn't, than believe there is no god and die to find out there is. '
sometimes...you people ask, ' how come Christians think that there is no possiblity that they will be wrong? '
well we can say the same about you....im not generalizing...but this is to the atheists that say these things and dont even listen to the words that come out of their mouth. but some atheists think that everything is okay cuz its all proved through science.....that there is no possiblity of them being wrong. well....the big bang is only a theory...not a fact. so why cant some of you look at Christianity...and say there may be some truth to it?

and...you know, Christianity is like taking the road less traveled...everyone else religion is usually fitted to suit them....not really caring whether it is the TRUTH...Christianity doesnt go that way....it doesnt just say...'well this isnt for u...so go find another rleigon. ' if anything....Christianity would be for no one...cuz the things that God talks about and says for us to do....are the roads that are less traveled.....and usually taking the road less traveled is better than following everyone else. cuz everyone else needs a leader.....but what happenes when the leader is also a follower? just following everyone else...so no one dares to turn around and go the other way....
" I can see how a man can look upon the Earth and be an atheist, but I do not understand how an atheist can look into the heavens and say there is no god."

deazone...well when i say the road less traveled for Chrstians..i mean that its harder for us to do it...because we only have faith.....so its harder. other religions ...it is not so hard...you guys usually have statues n such...and usually u start worshipping the statue unknowinglingy. thats why our God...will not allow a statue to be built of Him....knowing that we will fall into idoltry of the statue. and i know there are more Christians...but that doesnt mean ALL of them are TRUE Christians.....a true Christian is the road less traveled....cuz people are falling back into islam....going away from Christianity....and the life for us Christians...and the rules we must follow...and the things we must do....are kinda hard when you have to deal with feelings. you might say, then get off of it....but why? usually the road less traveled is the better one...

As an old atheist, I too appreciate beauty and do my best to understand our evolving Universe. I even appreciate fairy tales and the people that spin these wonderful tales for us. Perhaps many misunderstand the word "believe" as that word implies a conclusion based upon faith, not evidence.
One can never prove or disprove the existance of a deity, but the credible evidence to support the existance of said deity simply does not exist.
However, religion can be used to induce those born without a moral compass to do good in the hopes of being rewarded in a later life. We humans are "control freaks" and must make someone or something responsible for everything that happens. If we can't find a human leader that can be made responsible for some happening, then we will delegate that authority to some superhuman being. Some things are just plain random chance... but humans find that hard to accept.
Religion is neutral, neither good nor evil... it takes the human touch to make it either.
Every religion seeks to make a better person out of those that follow said religion and many are successful. I question how some came to "believe" their faith & wish I had enough time left to research imprinting & the effect of early childhood
teachings. I look at my grandchildren & great grandchilden in awe and hope they will have a wonderful life as I've had. To really appreciate beauty, nature, country & life one must try to understand them.

Amazing how you can talk out of both sides of your mouth at one time. Firstly, for the past 1500 years or more, most of Europe was dominated by Christianity. In fact Christianity became so powerful that they murdered mass groups of people that were not Christians and tortured others to become Christian. Being an atheist was the road less traveled and a scary road at that. But then you knew that when you went on about a road less traveled.
In addition, Christianity is still the largest religion world-wide and it was the religion of the people who founded the USA. Hence once again it is not the road less traveled. You truly need to get out more and read other things beside what your church tells you you are allowed to read.
Abraham Lincoln was not a very religious person, just FYI. He tended to rely more on the Declaration of Independence than the Bible. So, while a well researched quote, the source is speculative as to how religious he was. He became more religious after the death of his son.
Now as an atheist and I die and there is a God, then has done a poor job to prove that he exists. They only people these days who talk to God are people diagnosed with mental disorders, now why is that but back when you believe they certainly could. Does that not raise flags in your own mind? If there is a God and I die, then I expect that he would be a kind being and realize he was amiss in his role in my life. If he tries to punish me for not believing in him, even though he did not appear, etc, then he is a jerk and I want nothing to do with him anyway. So it really is simple, if there is a God, then where is he? And why could so many people 2,000+ years ago talk to God, but today they actually are diagnosed as mental disorders?

In all honesty, and I say honesty because this is how I feel.. No, I do not think it was created when I look at the stars, moon, the sun, the oceans. Even when I have examined my own blood cells under a microscope I did not think they were designed by some ultra intelligent human like being.
I do have a sense of awe though, and I do appreciate such things, there are many mysteries out there still, but I genuinely do not see that a God has been responsible for it. The concept is bizaar to me and just does not make any sense whatsoever.
The road that the Christians travel upon is not less traveled than the ones we Atheist travel on. Just look at statistics, there are Billions of Christians, there are probably less than 10 percent of us that are Atheists.

I look at nature.. and I see everything beautiful in it: sunsets, mountains, oceans, streams, fields, flowers. I look at all of it and can say "Wow, nature is so wonderful because it just IS."
It's amazing because of what it is.. I see no necessity of a creator. Isn't it more amazing to think that all of this came to be through natural processes, not by some divine hand? I'm sorry if a rational view of beauty is somehow inferior to one that involves some supernatural being.
In response to your phrase, I say to you "I would rather believe Allah is exists and die to find out that there isn't, than believe Allah doesn't exist and die to find out there is." Why haven't you accepted Allah into your heart? Seriously, why not? I just posed the exact same reasoning to you.
Here's the catch. Religions like Christianity and Islam are mutually exclusive: you can't believe both. Simply believing in "God" isn't enough. You have to pick the right one. And what if you haven't picked the right one? Ever thought of that? What then? This is flawed reasoning because of all the possibilities (literally infinity).
Sure, there MAY be some truth to Christianity. But then again, there may not be. You don't KNOW there is (and if you claim to, you are lying to yourself and others). Science is more reliable than religion and that is the shortest way I can put it.

You can't be serious !
A sunset is a simple equation, beautiful yes, but a simple light equation. Your god doesn't make a sunset, it's a simple light equation. You can't be serious and think it proves god, you just can't be that simple.
And why do you keep saying the big bang is a theory like it's a bad thing. Do you even know the scientific definition of "theory"? Please, please, please look it up.
Another question - does your god concept have any more proof than any scientific theory? Why do you babble about the big bang being "only a theory", when you have less proof of your god?
Unless you think a sunset proves your gods existence. If that is the case, there is no reason to discuss any of this any further

First, when a person clicks to answer a question, the only stuff they can see is the question and the Details.
So all those Additional Details are wasted.
If you want to understand what atheists think, you could ask shorter and more targeted questions, so we can see and respond to what you write.
But I suspect you aren't interested in knowing what atheists think, as you seem to be more interested in telling us what YOU WANT us to think, which is, you want us to think exactly what you think.
We've heard it all before. You haven't said anything new here. What we want more than anything is for you believers to leave us alone and stop bugging us to stop using the power of our own minds, and mindlessly agree with whatever insane ideas you prefer.
So I'll be brief, since I'm probably wasting my time.
There is no evidence for god, or any good reason to believe in god.
Sunsets are phenomena of sunlight acting on the atmosphere, in conjunction with the rotation of the Earth.
The reason I say there's no god is that it's an irrational belief with no basis in fact or reason.
Yes, I've heard the quote. Proves nothing. There are a lot of people who have all sorts of false beliefs. The fact that some people believe insane things is no reason for ME to believe them.
I don't care what other atheists say. Unlike believers, I believe that people should use the power of their own minds to come to conclusions, rather than accepting things just because they are told they are true.
As for Big Bang, that's the currently most accepted theory. I don't know for certain that's how it was.
My not being able to explain everything doesn't mean that insane ideas of invisible beings doing everything makes sense or explain anything. It just means that I don't yet know, possibly mankind doesn't yet know.
Mature people are able to live with not knowing some things. I don't need to believe crazy things just to escape not knowing everything.
If there were any reason to seriously consider Christianity, or any of the other religions, I would consider it.
But there isn't, so I don't.
BTW, most Christians don't feel a need to reject science in order to be Christian. Most people who understand and accept natural selection are religious. It's only in the U.S. that there's a strong anti-science, anti-reason, anti-fact push among the religious (not all American Christians, but it's more prevalent here than in civilized countries.)
My question to you is, why can't you leave atheists alone?
I have never harmed you in any way, or tried to force you to believe things. Why are you compelled to pester us?
If you want to know what atheists believe, and why, there is more than one book, and more than one web site on the topic.
If you aren't interested in learning more, talk to all the people who believe what you believe and leave the rational people alone.

Actually it's rather easy. I enjoy the beauty of nature, but that doesn't mean that there had to have been a creator.
I would ask, how can you look at life and think that it didn't evolve? If you ever studied astronomy, how could you say that the big bang didn't happen? It's obvious you've never bothered with science. I base my beliefs on evidence and fact, you're basing yours on your emotions and on a old mythology book.
I would rather live my life and enjoy it than worry about trying to worship the right god. You realize there's thousands of gods to choose from besides your own, right? (Yes, Pascal’s Wager all over again. *sigh* You people are going to kill my liver.)

Oh boy...(takes deep breath)
Paragraph 1 is nothing more than argument from ignorance. In essence, "I am unable to understand how something came to be, so it must be the work of god." You look at a sunset and see god? What do you see when you look at a tar pit or someone with leprosy?
Paragraph 2 is Pascal restated.
Paragraph 3 is our friend the straw man.
Paragraph 4 is the straw man continued and then bumps right back into argument from ignorance.
The Big Bang *is* a theory (not to be confused with Evolutionary Theory). But it's a theory that has evolved from observed data. What has your theory evolved from?

Just because people find the notion of god comforting doesn't make it factual. Just because god doesn't exist doesn't make the universe any less wondrous.
My question is this: If you can't prove for certain that your god exists, since Christianity is a matter of belief on 'faith' alone. Then how do you know that Allah or Shiva are not the real god? You may worship your god your entire life and do everything required of you by your god to gain entry into heaven and you may still go to Hell for worshiping the wrong god.

Live in your own delusion, and stop trying to force everyone else to see that your way is the right way because you will never find out either way. You will die and it will be the end.
There is no sparkly magical place waiting for you...... god isn't waiting for you to hug you & welcome you........ you're living your life according to 2000 YEAR OLD MYTHOLOGY and the scary part about it is...... you're so fu**ing gullible that you eat it all up..... like a damn feeding frenzy..... You're so desperate to cling to something & believe that there is something bigger than yourself so you can give your miserably miniscule existance on this planet some meaning. Without your precious religion you cannot find any purpose to your sorry excuse for a life..... but as long as you believe in god you're ok because when this pathetic life of yours is over you'll have a grand existance in heaven..... with the gold roads, candy cane light posts, and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches with all the crusts cut off just for you.
You want to delude yourself and lower your own IQ with this fantasy rubbish, that is YOUR choice....... STOP trying to push YOUR CHOICE on everyone else because what is good for your life is not good for everyone elses. The sooner you realize that your religion is just a pillow to cushion the harsh reality of death & a wall to safeguard you from excessive knowledge of the universe..... the sooner you can see that religion is just for the special folk, like yourself.
LEAVE US ALONE ALREADY!!
Yeah, I'm kind of having a bad day.... don't like it? Sod off!
