The best bet is to go back to the dermatologist and stick to the regiment that they prescribe. That is one of the most important things with getting rid of acne is sticking to the same thing.

If worse comes to worse then the dermatologist can put you on Accutane.

Ok, I'm 30 now, but I had a similar experience with acne, and maybe my advice will be helpful to you. I used various products containing benzoil peroxide for years, and they never, and I do mean never, seemed to help. As I got older, I began getting acne boils as opposed to simply tiny little whiteheads. Finally, at the age of 28, I tried Proactive as well, and it made my acne clear up within a week, only to have it come back again worse than I had it to begin with! At that point, I came to the conclusion that I must have some kind of sensitivity to benzoil peroxide, and I completely gave up on acne products. Now, I cleanse my skin twice a day with Dove soap and water, and I apply a light moisturizer to my skin (I might suggest, if your skin is oily, use Biore oil control moisturizer). For makeup, I use Bare Minerals powder, only lightly. Also, I have mild food alergies to milk products and eggs, which usually causes breakouts for me when I eat too much. These suggestions will not work overnight, but if you stick with them, you may see improvement over time.

I have never had acne so I have to ask this question, is it pimples and blackheads?

If so, get a scrubbing glove from the beauty department at Walmart (I know they have them). It is a rough knit glove that you scrub with in the shower.

I got one for my Husband many years ago. He had blackheads on his face. It opens the top of the pores and purges out the junk that builds up in the pores. Just scrub with it every time.

I use Vaseline on my face about one night a week and it works great keeping your face soft and then you clean it with a hot wet wash cloth in the morning. I get maybe one pimple a year, and no blackheads.

This is a very inexpensive solution and for us it works great.

mmkay.
try drinking lots of water, use light, nonoily makeup, if you have long bangs/ hair in your face wash a lot, they make these oil blot things where in the middle of the day you just rub one over your oily spots and it takes out excess oil.

well, i think you should try to go back to a dermatologist (another one if this one hasnt helped) and talk to him/her about accutane... if your acne is as bad as you say.... then they might be able to give it to you.
