Exercise, eating habits... any suggestions?

I'm just looking to tone up, really. I don't need to lose pounds, just gain some muscle and look as fit as I can. I have pretty good eating habits right now, and I exercise daily. Just wondering if there's something I can do to go a little bit further, just that extra push.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I'm sorry, but we can't answer that! What kind of shape are you in now? Do you have problem areas? Do you currently work out? How much? Do you lift weights or do cardio? Or both? What is your diet like?

Without some idea about your current fitness level, exercise frequency, and diet, how can we help?!? :)

If we tell you to run 5 miles a day, do 300 sit-ups, and then to lift weights every other day, that might be good advice for someone who is already very fit and in their 20s. However, if you were a couch potato, it'd probably kill you!

What is 'perfect shape' for you? Toned? Lose 5 lbs? Looking your best in a swimsuit by making some part of your body more sleek or rounded?

Help us help you! :)

Good luck!

If you want all over toning, check out the "Buff Brides" book. They have pictures and work outs to tone every muscle group at home, if you dont want to do a gym. If you have a gym membership, then work out a different muscle group or two every day (ie work your arms hard monday, then legs tuesday, etc). Do hard core cardio...personally i find there is no better work out than a good run. If you need to drop pounds, consider eating less carbs for a little while. Eat more veggies. Before my wedding, I wanted to tone up and fit into my dress - I ran 3 miles a day five days a week, did the buff bride book, and ate way less carbs than usual (the ones I ate were complex carbs, like raisin bran). I lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks, had to have my dress taken in, and looked toned and really healthy. I felt great! Dont go crazy though...be safe about dieting and working out. good luck!!

do crunches everyday to tone your stomach, jumping jacks, and jog to lose weight. stay away from greasy/oily foods and eat a lot of steamed vegetables and salads.
