I cut my finger and I had a cast on it for 3 weeks. I finally got the stiches and cast off. I have moisturized it like crazy but I have 3 weeks of dead skin that keeps peeling off and its discusting. It hurts at times. Is there anything at all that can make this dead skin come off faster or do I have to just deal with it?

If the area around the cut still hurts, then let your doctor know. (i.e. It could be an infection, scar tissue, etc.)

If it's just uncomfortable because of the flaky skin, then make a paste of white sugar and water. Rub your skin gently & rinse off w/ tepid water.

If your skin is completely healed, you can make a paste of sugar & olive oil instead. Wash w/ a mild soap like Dove afterwards.

Aquaphor Healing Ointment or Neosporin will help protect the new skin underneath the flakes.

Get a product called "Foille"...it is an anti-biotic ointment but it works great for things like that. Put it on your finger before you go to bed and then slip on a rubber glove (if you can stand it for the whole night) that will help contain the moisture into your skin. If it doesn't do the job the first night, try it two nights.

Rub your finger with a paste made out of oatmeal flakes and water. That helps when you are peeling from sunburn. Just mix the oatmeal with some water in a small bowl (little quantities since its just for your finger) until it looks like a thick lotion.

use an apricot scrub like stIves or make a mixture of hand soap and sugar and slough the dead skin off with it.....be sure to moisturize afterwards.

Aveeno oatmeal is a good lotion, Anything with cocoa butter is good too. Lotion is a topical ointment. Try eating more fish or something with Vitamin E.

I think it's normal for it to be peeling but I don't know...just keep moisturizing it.
