Try cuticle oil (e.g. Solar Oil, OPI Avoplex, jojoba oil)

Apply Vaseline, plain Chapstick or Aquaphor Healing Ointment to protect them for water as you wash your hands throughout the day. Re-apply at least 2x/day.

At night, apply Neosporin for about a week. After they heal, apply vitamin E oil every evening before going to bed.

I had the same problem about six months back. This is how you remedy the situation. You can use any oil, and I really mean any oil, Vegetable oil, hair oil, nail oil or olive oil. Everytime you wash your hands rub the oil into your cuticles. I guarantee that not only will you have soft smooth cuticles but you will have healthy and strong nails too. Please just try it, it really does work.

Sally Hansen cuticle cream works great. Or try buying a pair of cotton gloves, put lotion on and wear them overnight.
