I'm taking the Athena challenge because someone finally figured out how to spell "lose."

"Giving Goddess Athena a chance" violates the Second Commandment. We believe in God because we believe he is the Truth. Christians believe that other gods are the inventions of Satan to lure the faithful away from God. This is what the Bible says:

"I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God[...]"
Exodus 20:2-5 (The Second Commandment)

and

"There is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." Isaiah 45:21-22

She didn't save Athens from being sacked and burned by the Persians (or the Romans, or the Ottoman Turks, etc.).

So what good is the goddess of Defensive Warfare anyway?

She is only a statue. I would be losing my mind if I were to worship something that doesn't exist... and my mind would be the least of my concerns once my soul is gone too, lol.

um... funny Bible verse to indirectly answer your question:
Isaiah 44
13 The carpenter measures with a line
and makes an outline with a marker;
he roughs it out with chisels
and marks it with compasses.
He shapes it in human form,
human form in all its glory,
that it may dwell in a shrine.

14 He cut down cedars,
or perhaps took a cypress or oak.
He let it grow among the trees of the forest,
or planted a pine, and the rain made it grow.

15 It is used as fuel for burning;
some of it he takes and warms himself,
he kindles a fire and bakes bread.
But he also fashions a god and worships it;
he makes an idol and bows down to it.

16 Half of the wood he burns in the fire;
over it he prepares his meal,
he roasts his meat and eats his fill.
He also warms himself and says,
"Ah! I am warm; I see the fire."

17 From the rest he makes a god, his idol;
he bows down to it and worships.
He prays to it and says,
"Save me! You are my god!"

18 They know nothing, they understand nothing;
their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see,
and their minds closed so they cannot understand.

19 No one stops to think,
no one has the knowledge or understanding to say,
"Half of it I used for fuel;
I even baked bread over its coals,
I roasted meat and I ate.
Shall I make a detestable thing from what is left?
Shall I bow down to a block of wood?"

Great come back. As a Christian I get tired of other Christians who treat God like a Toyota; "give him a try and if you don't like him you can give him back." "What can God do for you today?"
Those comments reveal a shallow, consumer based view of God that minimizes Him and insults the intelligence of the reader.

perhaps for an identical reason serial monogamists can evaluate themselves "Christian" (and truly have each and every physique of their marriages ensue with the advantages of their church) even with the actuality that there are only 6 mentions of any feasible "homosexuality" pronounced in the Bible, yet extra desirable than 260 that specially declare divorce to be a brilliant sin. (It even gets ranked in the "suited 10" (i.e.: 10 commandments, while, homosexuality became no longer placed on that checklist of maximum extreme nono's) there is an exceedingly marvelous e book obtainable stated as: "WHAT THE BIBLE truly SAYS approximately HOMOSEXUALITY" that i will't propose extra, to gay AND rapidly people who: think of, no longer only experience. this is totally effective and could enable you already know the way the Bible (by way of undesirable translation) probable would not say what you think of it says. (enable's attempt to bear in mind that the unique text textile wasn't in English, and has been translated by way of countless persons --some, which comprise scribes who could no longer easily study yet have been knowledgeable to repeat and on occasion, did no longer replica precisely.... changing the meaning(s) of the be conscious.) one in all my popular workouts is to seem up the unique text textile in Greek, then discover out what number diverse meanings this is been given over the years. I easily have an extremely expensive (gay) Greek student chum, who taught me to truly heavily seem on the entire, no longer only what the present non secular powers that be like it to assert. whilst this is finished, you recognize working example: That the thought of "The Virgin delivery" on no account meant to assert that, that the unique be conscious meant: "youthful" no longer VIRGIN, and for this reason, you are able to seem on the entire concept of Jesus' delivery with an clever eye. i could desire to ask you this question: "Why do Christian Heterosexuals think of that being heterosexual exterior of the bonds of marriage is okay?" (and because only 6% of all adults in united statesa. are virgins, and that could desire to comprise an entire mess o'people who've on no account married), i might say there are an entire pile of sinners available: and all sins weigh an identical, I hear. i'm hoping that facilitates you already know, another perspective.
