In Deuteronomy, there is a verse [I can quote if you'd like. If you ask, wait for me to put it in details so you can actually answer] saying that there should be none amongst you who sacrifices their child. I know this is in reference to Pagan worship, but the fact is it condemns child sacrifice.

Jesus is called the Son of God. How do you justify worshiping something that kileld it's own son, as a sacrifice, when he expressly forbids this practice? You're probably going to fall back on some "Died for our sins," etc.

If you do, I ask you, would it be alright for me to sacrifice my son for the absolving of sin? I may not have to, but if I beleive it'll help, why shouldn't I? Obviously, it'd be a Godly act.

Deuteronomy 12:30-32 (New International Version)

30 and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared by inquiring about their gods, saying, "How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same."
31 You must not worship the LORD your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the LORD hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.
32 See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.

OK here is the verse in its context that you are referring to. And you are correct when it is referring to pagans.

Jesus had a choice. He knew what was going to happen and why. He could have left town and said sorry Father I just can't do it. But he didn't.

Jesus died on that cross to absolve everyone who ever lived and who will ever live of their sins. So it would not be ok for you to sacrifice your own son because there is no need to. If you did it, it would just be plain murder and just plain crazy.

But I agree, with several of the other answers, nothing we say will make you happy. so take the answer and do with it what you will.

The people in that time were sacrificing their child as burnt offerings to pagan gods meaning they formed that thing themselves because they didn't believe in God. God condemns the very act of doing this because it's not His way, it's not pleasing in His sight. His order of sacrifice in that time was that people would kill an animal for the atonement of sins...He didn't killed His Son, men did out of their hatred and jealousy...and no, it isn't alright for you to sacrifice your son because as you said, God condemns it and besides it's not God's requirement of paying the price for sin. Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice, the only who can pay the price of sin. If you want to do a godly act, ask Jesus for forgiveness and commit your life to Him, that way no baby of yours will ever perished.=)

P.S. God is above His Law. The Law is for humans not God Himself.=)

God the Father, Son And Holy Spirit are ONE. It was a self sacrifice, in a sense. God took on the form of a human born Emmanuel "God with us." In the beginning was the WORD and the Word with God and the Word was God, and the word became flesh and dwelt among us. " He laid his life down by His choice with a purpose. So it's not the same thing at all.

Well, first of all, Deuteronomy is in the Old Testament. The New Testament is where Christ comes in to play. The Old Testament says a lot of crazy stuff -- how to treat your slaves, etc...and a lot of it gets contradicted by the New Testament. The reason Christians aren't Jewish has to do with the New Testiment. If you'd like to discuss the validity of Deuteronomy, talk to a Rabbi.

Jesus voluntarily came to earth, sacrificed Himself willingly for our sins, descended into hell to free those who were trapped and waiting to enter Heaven, and on the third day He rose again. He did NOT commit suicide. He did not crucify Himself (you see, that would be impossible.)

Jesus is the Son of God, so His sacrifice is what makes it work. If it were anyone else, it probably wouldn't have worked because they wouldn't have been God.

So in other words you're saying your a god if you believe sacrificing your son would absolve sin. You're very confused. Didn't David Keresh (Sp?) think along those lines?

You can quote all you want but understanding the principles and knowledge is another item.
I am not falling back on anything.
God did not kill His son. Man did. Jesus willingly gave up his life for man.
Where you liken it to child sacrifice is a stretch. Big time.
If you even think of sacrificing your own child that itself has derelict forethought.
Sorry.

well firist of all deuteronomy is the old testment. when jesus came everything changed we do not live under the old testment anymore. we live under the new testment and it does not require any kind of human sacifice except a living sacrifice on our part. God did not kill his son jesus he gave his life because he loved us and it was the only way that the we the world could be saved from our sins. it was part of god 's plan for jesus to die on the cross he did not want too see it happen but it was the only way for us to be saved from sin. but still god did not force jesus he did it of his freewill you qouted now im going to quote. jesus said No one takes my life from me i lay it down freely. thier is no greater love than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.

God kills people all the time too. Obviously the creator of the universe is not beholden to the same rules as the created.

Jesus IS God.. And sacrificing a child is not the same as someone sacrificing themself at another's request.
You need to change your way of thinking while you can. Isn't it better to live as if there is GOD and die to find out there isn't, than to live as if there is NO GOD and die to find out there is?
