"Skimming (off the top)" is slang for embezzlement, and embezzlement is illegal, so yes, your sentence is "expressing that He got a lot of money in an illegal way" adequately.

P.S. It's "skimmed," not "skimed."

(lol, wtf at the thumbs down--I'm completely right o.O)

"To skim" is perfect English. Even in contemporary English or slang :

"skim"

"The act of taking a middleman or drug dealer taking a portion of the product for himself after receiving it from the next person up before selling it to customers, especially when this act is done covertly, IE among friends."

" "Man that asshole said he split up the ounce he bought for us four ways, but I only got 5 grams, he skimmed the sack man!" "

"skim", Urban Dictionary : http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=skim

It would be skimmed, not skimed. Meaning he was stealing money when he was in charge. Hope this was helpful.

Sneakily is an ADVERB because it is in front of the verb, adjectives go with nouns. Please do not listen to the previous answerer. Skimmed has 2 m's, this makes sense to me, I'm English, if you are writing for Americans and they are having trouble maybe find a similar word? Other than that, excellent.

Yes, your sentence and the meaning are correct.

Only that skimmed is with double m.

Sleep well.

skimmed is not often used except in newspapers. Good usable sentence. I forgot farmers use it to discribe processing milk.

maybe you can put an adjective in front of skimmed to make sure people understand that it was illegal. Maybe sneakily or something on that order. It's hard to say when i don't know the whole story. But maybe look for a word like that.

Good Luck!
