I recently read Osho's "The Book of Secrets" and responded well to his style of bridging Eastern and Western thought. However I saw the many contradictions in his writings as well as his practices while alive and I would like to know a less radical and controversial alternative.

Anything that is a good read on meditation, nonexistence of the past/future, tantra, and so on....

I am not looking for any type of strict dogmatic texts like that of strict Hindus, nor do I want any writings from cult-types like Osha's followers.

A course in Miracles might be interesting for you. Kind of like the course book for "Conversations with God". I think you might find some interesting concepts here, but just read it for an interesting read. Get the Teacher's Guide, don't bother with the Student edition until you are sure you want to go there.

Dan Millman, also, I loved his "Peaceful Warrior" Stuff. He is a great story teller who creates characters that you just LOVE.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenence" The Dancing Wu-Li Masters" These are classics for a reason.

Carlos Castenada - any. I think you'll really dig his out of body perspective and you sound deep enough, and enough of a searcher to try this.

"Tying Rocks to Clouds" A series of interviews with some of the greatest minds of our time.

Journey's out of the Body by Robert Monroe. Pre-eminant OOBE researcher who founded the Monroe institute to study altered consciousness.

Celestine and Tao of Pooh. If you haven't, you must.

"Jonathan Livingston Seagull" And the other Bach Books.
