Despends. I have 3 passports all stamped at US immigrations and Canada Customs.

Most of the time if you are driving over to the US or Canada they will not. But if you flight they will.

Yeah it's a neat proud display thing. But reality is it is an ancient accounting type practice that has lost most of its usefulness. Why don't they? Because your passport is computer scannable, and they can keep track of you that way. They don't have to look at your stamps to see when you arrived or left, or how frequently. It is all computerized. Stamping is more for your benefit now, not theirs. I find the US and Canada customs are about equal this way.

As mentioned, they do it more at an airport. I think because it's easier as they are sitting at a desk and people are traveling from further away. Thus more tourists that want it, and I don't think all countries issue passports that are computer readable.

I seem to get stamps more often then not when I fly to the US. The stamp says "The department of homeland security". Though not always. I got stamps on my Canadian passport last year when I went from Merida Mexico to Atlanta and from Winnipeg to Vegas. But I don't think I got stamps from TO to NYC or TO to LA. (Maybe because you clear US customs in Pearson Airport)

They don't stamp when you drive - at least never have they stamped mine. I'm talking about US stamping Canadian Passports so I guess that's not really the question is it. Sorry I think I misunderstood the question.
