In the Old Testament there were many things that were not allowed to be done on the sabbath (working, cooking, building a fire, etc.) Doing any of these things was considered breaking the sabbath.

Are you asking about Keeping it Holy?.. Not keeping the Sabbath is shopping, playing sports, working at home or at your job (sometimes you can't get away from your job, if you are like, a doctor), anything like that. On the Sabbath, if your aren't sure that what you are doing with break it or not ask yourself if what you are doing will spiritually uplift you.

If you are Jewish, breaking the Sabbath means you do one of the 39 types of work which the Torah forbids to do on the Sabbath.

"break the sabbath" you ask? I would say that one who doesnt have Christ to begin with wouldnt care what day it is or if he was taking a day of rest and for the Lord says to do this. One who is not in a walk with Christ. One who is will know.

it depends on your religion and what you are told not to do on the Sabbath. if your religion says don't do it and you do, then you've broken the Sabbath.
