This dream is about stepping into your destiny. You have the potential to use your gifts and abilities to enter your destiny, but there is no true power to drive them. You have a really cool destiny that will fulfill the purpose for which you were created to do. You just need to tap into the proper power source (God) to turn on your gifts and abilities brightly, so the light will shine. The dim light is coming from tapping into an inferior power source (not God). This is actually a great dream about the potential of your destiny, which can shine and provide illumination for yourself and others. All you have to do is plug in.

Things don't work the way you want often means you are losing control in reality.
dark room = fear
In your case, it is similar. However, in your case, it may also mean you are seeking for some help/support in reality. Having only dim lite shows you have some confidence, but not enough to turn it all on. Subconsciousl you are projecting that as dim lite.

Searching for light dreams are sometimes anxiety dreams, or may symbolize that you are searching for something in your waking life that is there but just out of grasp. I've had these, and also ones where you try to dial the telephone but the buttons don't work and you can't get through, or where you are having to crawl through tunnels and small spaces in dim lighting. All of them have the same feeling behind it. It just may mean you are on the verge of discovering something about yourself. Pay attention if it recurs and interpret them overall.

It means you are walking in spiritual darkness, and when you and idea or revelation about something it does not work. You don't know what's causing you to stumble. But the dim light coming on represents you are starting to finally get a grasp on what you need to do in life, but you still you have not got all the answers yet.

I had the exact same dream I just posted it before,I think it means we are in fear or worried about something - we use the expression "to be in the dark" when we are confused, maybe also feeling a bit lost. The lack of light or dim light means we lack awareness/insight into a situation, not enough light is being cast on a problem,so we don't know what to do about it.Also I think it symbolizes a feeling of depression, sadness.

I actually had a conversation with a psychologist about a dream very similar to this one. It's kind of eerie, actually, because she said that many people have it frequently, and it isn't a very good sign. It actually dates back to Mayan civilization. There have been depictions of it on walls in many early civilizations, as a matter a fact. I myself have not had the dream, but my psychologist actually believes that this dream links together gay people. I can't explain why, exactly, but those with homosexual tendencies tend to have this dream repeatedly, with the first time representing the peak of their gay.
