You don't need a fast fad diet to lose 15 pounds by the end of July. That's less than 2 lbs per week.

Just eat sensibly and increase your activity levels. At least 3 times per week, 20-30 minutes of cardio. (If you can still talk while you're exercising, you aren't doing it right.) 2-3 times per week, strength training. (If your muscles aren't groaning in pain, ditto.)

Skip desert, choose steamed or baked instead of fried, (and no, that doesn't mean regular twinkies are ok.) Go with lean meats. Portion guide: A serving is about the size of the palm of your hand. Go by the food pyramid, it's right on target, but stick with complex carbs and you'll get a healthier glycemic index. Simple carbs aren't fuel, they're a waste of calories that you have to burn off anyway, and they won't provide the energy to do it. (White rice, white bread, potatoes, sugar.)
Proteins and complex carbs provide sustained energy and give you the tools to build more muscle. Muscles burn calories.

Good choices:
Fish, Poultry, Bison... Brown rice, Whole grain bread, sweet potatoes.

Your goal is a piece of cake! Don't let the number scare you. (Unless you're already at your ideal weight, in which case, throw everything I just said out the window. Get help.)

Hi Not_Just_Another_Girl! Good for you for looking to improve your health. Losing 15 pounds by July is pretty ambitious. The good news is, that with the appropriate diet and exercise routine, a safe expectation could be to lose about 1 pound per week. Anything beyond that, you run the risk of it being unhealthy. Chances are the weight you'd lose would be more muscle tissue than fat cells. This is not good because muscle tissue helps to burn fat, gives a person a 'toned' look, and is very hard to gain back.

Diets? The South Beach Diet is a good one to try. It is oriented so you'll drop water weight at the beginning which helps a person's confidence when they see quick results on the scale.

Here are some healthier living quick tips that will aid in fat loss:

Do your cardio first thing upon waking on an empty stomach.
Eat small meals about every 3 hours. Portion sizes should be such that you are ready to eat again about every 3 hours. This will keep certain hormones balanced throughout the day to aid in fat loss and fat prevention.
Meals should be balanced. Meaning: if your meal/snack calorie breakdown is about 50% carbs, 20% protein, and 30% fat, then the rest of your meals should consist of the same breakdown. An EXCEPTION is any meal/snack within a few hours of bedtime. This meal/snack should be strictly protein, no carbs and no fats.
Minimize your sugar and saturated fat intake.
Include Resistance Training 3 times a week. The benefits of resistance training are extremely numerous! Fat loss is included.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

Try a cleansing diet! I did and lost 11 pounds and 21 inches in only 9 days. I was very happy with the results and continued on the program and lost 29 pounds in 5 weeks. This is the fastest I have ever lost with other diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Slimfast etc…. Cleansing works by removing impurities from your body. You get impurities from your food (pesticides, preservatives, food additives, colorings) water, chemicals, pollution, medications, alcohol, hormones that the animals you eat were fed etc….YUCK! The impurites get coated with fat and remain in your body. To remove the fat, you have to remove the impurites. This system worked for me, maybe it can work for you too. You can check out the website or call this toll free number 1-877-587-4647 for more info. The program is not cheap, but it is worth every penny since it works and keeps you motivated. Good luck! Atkins. It will work for your short term goal. It can work indefinitely. No, it is not difficult. You may heard the term Atkins associated with low carb dieting but most people have a warped view of true Atkins dieting. In a nutshell, Atkins in based on Proteins and Vegetables. Think lean meat and green vegetables. What could be healthier. Buy the Atkins book. Retails new for about $6. Don't listen to others and the warped horror stories. Atkins is about low carbs, not no carbs. Atkins is easy if you can read with comprehension. Yes, I said easy. You can find a low carb version of pratically any product sold. Bread, cookies, cake, ice cream etc . . . Your goal is quite obtainable with Atkins.

Im going to try to do this as well...Good job to you for not making an unrealistic goal. I may have issues of my own when it comes to weight but I love to encourage everyone to choose a healthy diet. You know what is really really hard but works is Atkins. i did it three years ago. The first two weeks are ******* tough, and while i didnt even make it through 2 weeks, i lost like 5 lbs pretty quickly. Do 100 sit ups every night too. I did that for months and got a ****** ROCK HARD, FLAT STOMACH!

I have been very successful with losing weight through Weight Watchers. Yes, you may say its the old lady diet but I am 20 and have lost almost 30 lbs with it and proper exercise. If you set yourself a goal you can definitely do it.

You can work backwards on the timing and start steadily from now. You can exercise and eat healthily at the same time. If you wish, you can read more abt weight loss options from this site from info on exercise to food to eat and ways to diet. There is also a free report you can download on weight loss without dieting.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
