Two reasons - one... it's the "norm" in the US. And two... they WANT to believe in god, whether it makes sense or not.

For the same reason that we believe in oxygen though we can not see it. We believe in time though we can not see or control it. Evolution you say? WolfEkkehard Lonnig a German scientist quotes: "Mutations cannot transform an original species [ of plant or animal] into an entirely new one." Evolutionary theorist Jeffrey Schwartz wrote that natural selection may be helping species to adapt to the changing demands of existence, but "it is not creating anything new." Think of how precise the earth is set in the universe to allow our existence. If the earth were to be just a little to the right or left sort of speak, we would burn to death or become ice cubes. It just doesnt seem logical that we arrived at a "bang" either. When you come upon a beautiful house with nice landscape, trees, bushes, flowers, you know it didnt appear by chance. Someone built and put work into creating the home and arranging the landscape. It's only reasonable to conclude that a higher form of intelligence put love and consideration into our creation and that we simply did not arrive at chance or mutated from other species.... You need great faith and real desire to see this clearly.......... Peace

Science now points to God as the creator, actually it has for many years. Most ignorant people just still believe in the Darwin stuff and evolution and all that crazy junk.

A while back people started this other thought process called "The Big Bang" which means that the universe had a beginning. How many things do you know of that had a beginning and no cause. 00000000000000000

If the universe and everything in it had a beginning it had to have a cause that was outside the laws of physics, space and time.

That cause was God.

Note: Darwin would never have believed that evolution could have created irreducibly complex machines such as the ones that we find in our bodies.

Also we now know that to have life you need information, DNA, Amino acid sequencing, which part of the primordial goo do ya tink that came from.

Stop just believing in every fairy tale and believe the truth which is found in God and his Son Jesus Christ.

I'd like to turn this around ask you: Why don't you believe in god when there is no proof that he does not exist?

I will tell you this, though: The idea of a god, an overarching, benevolent power, gives people hope and comfort. They feel that they have somewhere to turn when things go badly, and they feel a sense of community with the others who share their belief. I would say that all of those are perfectly good reasons to believe in God, wouldn't you?

Belief in god is a choice, a belief that was never meant to be backed up by or even interact with science. They deal with different fields, science for the physical world around us and religion for the spiritual sides within us. Trying to disprove one using the other is abit silly in my opinion, because they were never meant to interact. They do not contradict one another, because they have different deeper meanings.

Cave men believed in a higher power, there is archaeological evidence of that. Santa exists and there is no proof of that and yet, without proof millions of people spend money for presents that they declare to their children that Santa brought. It is a human characteristic to believe in things impossible, that's why we have airplanes, use electricity, and have gone to the moon. It is because man has faith in doing the impossible that impossible things exist......and if there was no God that created us and the universe than we did the job for him by creating him. Either way, he is here to stay.

Same reason why I believe emotions exist. There is no proof they are actually there other than the way a person reacts to them or causes themselves to act. Therefore, God causes actions/reactions by people and therefore exists. Think my logic is flawed? Well, logic is not a good measure of reality. Think back in time to all the things we once thought were logic. Many of them are now considered illogical. Logic should never be trusted because it changes with time/knowledge. (ie. allow smoking in plane cabins, not allowing women to vote, classifying blacks and other races as animals and not humans)

It may be because most of the world's population do so believe, and can they all be wrong? In any case God Himself has put that knowledge in their minds. The proof to believers is what that knowledge does in their lives. Studying the Bible will help.

You seem to be of the type that you must see, before believing.
That's not always good.
Did you know that 30 years before anyone saw Pluto, it was known to be there.
Scientists did not see it, but there was enough evidence to prove its existence.
There is more than enough evidence to make God's existence a very reasonable conclusion.

No SCIENTIFIC proof, perhaps... but there is more to this world than can be currently measured by the 5 senses.

Besides, ever see the "Friends" episode with Pheobe and her whole thing about gravity? There are some principles that apply here, too.

"If God gives me some ‘sign,’ then I will believe."

The unsaved often want a "sign" from God. This is in spite of the testimony of creation, their conscience, the Bible, and the Christian. The cross is the only thing that can truly convince a sinner of the reality of who Jesus is. Once they understand that the holes in His hands and His feet are there because of their own sin, they will fall at His feet and cry, "My Lord and my God
