I only found Jesus when I hit rock bottom too. I'm not saying tht I should be forgiven for being the way I was before when I didn't follow him and love him the way I do now.
Hitting rock bottom helps people gain faith, prisoners have a lot of time to think and reflect on their behaviour.
This person obviosully has done the same thing, im not saying forigve this person, it would be ideal but where am I to judge? im not exactly the 'good samaritain' you can walk away from my advice and not even acknowledge it again.
But God did say we must forgive our enimes before he can forgive us, we are all brothers and sisters we can do silly things in spare of a moment, I don't know how hard it is for you in the sistuation your in. But remeber we are all borhters and sisters.. it could of easily being you who made the mistake of killing someone not necessarly your relative but someone else we are all CAPABLE its just how we react to things.

Having been in prison myself, I can truthfully tell you that not everyone does find Jesus while incarcerated. But for those who do, it is as wonderful there in that place as it is in the free world. And please tell me who will forgive you for calling "us" animals? I did a crime, I went to prison and served a sentence. That in itself does not make me an animal doomed to suffer for all eternity. Actually, it made me a better person than I ever was before. I learned a lot about myself and the rest of the world. Especially about people who don't know Jesus and don't know how to forgive others. Praise Jesus that there is a whole world of believers and forgivers because not all crimes force you to a life sentence in prison.

they usually find jesus though churches that come and perform drama's like mine.
i was in a drama with my church and 9 out of the 20 that were in there accepted Jesus Christ as their savior.
and obviosly you're an atheist i am i Christian and Jesus is real even if you choose not to accept him as your savior he still loves you the same as he loves me or any other person that has made a wrong choice and went to prison. and no one derserves to be tortured in prison. when i visited the prison i performed at most of them have to be in there for the rest of there lievs and when a person dies in there family or somthing they aren't aloud to say there last goodbyes.
i'm not trying to be a preacher here but if you want to talk more about being a christian just ask.

First of all- yes, if a prisoner accepts Christ His crimes are forgiven in the eyes of God- however there is still punishment for that sin- I heard of a woman who was on death row, and she accepted Christ , and when it was time for her to be executed her last words were- "yes, I know I will be in heaven, I am forgiven, but I still deserve to die for what I did". You know something, no matter how "bad" someone else is- we are not to compare ourselves with ANYONE but our Holy God. If we compare ourselves to other people of course we can "find" someone a worse person than ourselves. I was known as the good girl growing up, however I was going to spend eternity in hell- before I accepted Christ- why? Because my righteousness is as faulty rags to Him, and in comparison to Him.
I am SO sorry that this man killed a member of your family. He has been set free from sin, by the Lord, however, I do not think He should be set free from jail. He needs to realize that on this earth their is punishment for sin.

The reason most prisoners decide to turn to Jesus or religion once behind bars is that it is their last resort of comfort for themselves as there is no one or any thing else they can turn to fo solace in their time of despair. They have been dehumanized and to belong somewhere they find religion. This gives them something in common with the other prisoners who have found religion. It's like a safty net or blanket for them. They form a kind of solidarity among themselves as do others who find solidarity in gangs.

Well, most times it's all the time alone they have to think about what they did wrong. And they find themselves feeling very sorry for doing wrong toward other people. They sometimes have priests that go to the jails and prisons, and talk to them, and they can confess their sins. It's really a great thing for them.
They find peace within themselves. And anyone if they spend enough time alone, will do a lot of thinking.

I'm going to try to answer the question in that sickening drivel. Once in jail, people have nothing but time to think. Many of them are ministered to by Christians and Muslims and find some peace for themselves in these religions. They are paying their debt to society and trying to reconcile with themselves as people. If Jesus does not exist then their sense of forgiven-ness should not matter to you as they aren't truly forgiven.

I think that they maybe, some of them truly have a lot of time to think and reflect on their life and their choices they have made. When you are in prison, i would imagine you have hit rock bottom. once there the only place you can go is up.
Wouldn't you want the person helping you up to be Jesus.
Jesus isn't here to help those who already believe, he is here to help find the lost!

I'm with you on this . but the bible is clear when it says , if you mean it in your heart ( and that is what God sees ) then you are forgiven . It's as simple as that to become a christian , the hard part is to keep up with it and learn and progress . Most people go to God when they have nothing left in life and no where to go . According to God , that's fine , He'd rather you come humbled then full of the wrong righteousness . Humans have a hard time accepting this because it's to easy a way out , but again , if they mean it , they're as good as heaven , but they also must except the consequences for their previous actions and atone for it .
