I have read this article http://www.geoamaan.com/entry/13/61/ about LASIK eye surgery, although its very informative , but I want to know more about it. Can anyone share their personal experience about this?

I had the surgery done almost 5 weeks ago. It was a painless procedure, all I felt was some pressure when they were working on my eye. My doctor offered a tranquilizer (Valium) which I refused. The surgery itself took all of 10 minutes.

As soon as the surgery was done, I was able to see. My vision was cloudy, and I was a bit sensitive to sunlight, but it was not bad. I did have a bit of a feeling that something was in my eye, it felt like there was a bit of dust there.

I went home and took a several hour nap. After that I was able to see better (less fog). I did have a halo effect around lights at night, but that is getting less and less with time. I actually was able to drive the night of my surgery (although you are not supposed to)

My vision prior to surgery was very bad. Without corrective lenses, I would have been considered legally blind. The day after surgery I was better than 20/25 in both eyes. A week later, I was 20/20.

You will have some variations in your vision, as your eyes heal. I joked with my eye doctor that on even numbered days my left eye was better, on odd days I could see better out of the right one!

I am now seeing better than I ever have in my life. My only regret is I did not have the surgery earlier. It is the best think I have ever done for myself! (Marrying my wife is a close second.)

As a matter of fact, my wife, who's eyes were not as bad as mine, had the procedure done 2 weeks after I did. She is seeing even better than I am now!!

Hey..I underwent LASIK treatment an year ago and I am a doc myself. My eye doctor was trained in refractive surgery and she told me all about the possible complications as she said if I am still motivated enough to get it done than only she will do it.
Further, they ran a whole battery of tests to check whther I am suitable candidate for this surgery. Main concern was thickness of cornea and adequacy of tear production. LASIk is unsuitable for people with thin cornea and with dry eye (tear deficiency). Fortunately, I had a very good outcome after the surgery and i am free from glasses. I really admired the doctor for her professional and empathetic attitude. you can probably discuss with her at docvandanajain@rediffmail.com.
take care and all the best
