Contrary to popular opinion, a rich, warm, glossy brown is actually the most generally flattering to all skin tones. The key is for the color to be warm enough to bring out the flush in your cheeks, but cool enough to bring out the whites of your eyes and make your complexion look nice. Although brown is obviously the most common natural hair color, many people are born with shades that don't suit them. Also, a lot of brunettes ruin their beautiful coloring by covering it up with chunky streaks of brown and even (gag) orange. Do the world a favor and let your beautiful brown hair shine all on its own. This is not to say that I have anything against people with blonde, black, or red hair, but often those colors are less flattering on people who are not born with them and are hard to get good results with from dyes.

I often wonder if this is true. Really it depends on how long the dog was before you started sawing bits off.
