I had the same problem..

1) Check the wire to the sending unit. Its located to the left of the engine pully and behind it. Pull off the wire and clean off any oil or debris. Check the wire too since engine heat makes it brittle and it may be shorting out on something.

2) Re connect it and drive ,.. if the problem is still there get another unit. They are only a couple of bucks at JC Whitney if you can wait for the delivery and you can order it online along with other stuff.

Bottom line.. check your oil.. if you have plenty of oil then you don't jave a leak.

BUT.. after you replace the unit if you still are having the problem you may have a bad oil pump. THAT needs to be dealt with promptly at that point.

good luck...

No I don't think you have a leak.
The oil pressure gage has bit the dust.
If the light comes on and the lifters are not making any noise I would say the sending unit is what is bad.
Go to the auto store and order a new sending unit. Be shure you tell them it has a light and not a gage, as the sending unit comes in to different sizes. ! for a gage and 1 for a light.

i could have pronounced it could desire to be the stress swap different than for the rattle. the two jointly point out that that's no longer boost stress precise. that's available that the replace oil is purely too thick, in actuality, no longer too skinny. it could in actuality be the oil pump that's going living house. you may desire to do with somebody putting a suitable stress gauge on it to make certain what's relatively going on. decrease back to the storage and demand on seeing them do the assessments.

the oil pressure sending unit could be bad. and or the oil pump is going bad, or you need to add or change oil.
