u can tan without lotion, but it will take u a lot longer to develop a good color, because tanning lotion accelerates the tanning process...also, your skin is going to dry out more...dry skin actually reflects the uv rays, so you`re not going to tan as well...u don`t have to worry about an uneven tan when using lotion, because the only way u would look really uneven is if u used something with a bronzer in it & didn`t get it all over your body when applying it...

Using tanning lotions makes you tan 6x faster than if you do not use them. As suggested, I would not use a lotion with bronzer, that is where the streaks are coming from and makes you look orange. The best way to avoid an uneven tan is to go in a stand up tanner as well as bed and in the bed, alternate with your hands up under your head as well as by your side.

As long as you're not using self-tanner, you do not need to worry about missing spots. The reason for tanning lotion is to help you from getting burned but also do deepen your tan.
If you're worried about missing spots try and stay away from lotions that have a lot of bronzing in them.
Good luck! :)

I see lots of people suggest using a lotion but I truly do not tan nearly as well with a lotion. I use one at the very beginning to just get a base tan and then I quit using them. I seem to get much darker without than with. I know that sounds corny but its too for my skin. I use Austrailian Gold Pure to get my tan started. It has 7th Dimension Bronzers and a skin firming agent as well. I really liked it to get started. As your tanning salon if they have any suggestions because thats how I learned of Pure. Good luck to you!

It takes me a little longer than a week to start getting a tan so you may want to give it a little longer to see. I am fair skinned and it used to take me a while before seeing any color too until I started using a Australian Gold bronzer for indoor tanning. I think it was called Barely Legal - I never thought those things worked but it was AMAZING the difference. I never got splotchy and it really brought the "tan" out. I would give it a try seriously...Good luck!

you only have been tanning for a week, you have to give it time.I use something called Chocolate I got it from my tanning salon it does a good Job and smells good.I also use Store brads ones. But if you do use lotion it won't leave spots on you,In less you use the kind with bronzer then you have to make sure you get all your Body and wipe you hand off when you use it.Ask your tanning salon how often and when was the last time they changed there Bulbs,That makes a Big difference.

They say if you don't use a lotion, your skin is blocking the UV light for the first 4-6 minutes. When you use a lotion, your skin starts to tan the minute it hits the UV light. FYI

You can but it will take much longer.
Tanning lotion gets under your skin rather than dying the top layer. Don't worry about missing any spots.
