Yup. You often get this when you say something like:
"But Christians have the highest rate of divorce"
or
"But Christians comprise the highest prison population" etc.
You are told those people are not "real Christians". Then some Christians do not consider JWs and Mormons 'real Christians" and then the homosexual people who are Christian are not "real Christians" either because apparently if you are Christian, you never have same-sex attraction. Then the Christians who do water baptizms do not think those who do not, are 'real Christians" and the ones who speak in tongues do not think those who do not are "real Christians" and the ones who observe the Sabbath are not "real Christians" and the ones who listen to secular music are not "real Christians" and the Roman Catholics are not "real Christians" and the ones who vote Democrat are not "real Christians"........whew!
So I guess that narrows down the actual REAL Christians to what? 2 people?

It does not say anything about Christianity. It just means that everyone has some value which they place over other values whether they r Christian or Hindu or any other. There r some sins generally considered to be very bad and some values held up by most people and most religions.
Christianity gives importance to many values. It also puts down wrong deeds of which some r considered mortal sins. So these people are called not true Christians by some people.
Yes it is a fact that even "a true Christian" need not always be a true Christian. Everyone makes mistakes. But a true Christian or any true person is someone who realizes his mistake, feels sorry for it and takes the necessary steps to rectify it. Religion has taught us a lot. But it is the people who call others ' true Christian', 'not a true Christian' 'bad person' 'good human' etc...
Everyone has some values which they uphold on the basis of which they judge others. But generally when a person is considered bad by a society, or people of a religion then it is a generally accepted view of what is right.Though it is related to religion it is eventually a person's concept about something. It is the consciousness of the general public.

Being a Christian gives you the ability to not really having to adhere to the rules set up by the religion, but as long as you repent, it really doesn't matter what you do. So, from rapist to thieves, everyone can be saved. It is the safety net that is provided for people to do as they wish, that why is the most popular religion. Sometimes even promotes segregation, with extravagant churches for those with big pockets and status to maintain, to humble churches for the ones that are not so well off. There is a Vatican, that not only is protected like a fortress, but provides supreme security to these leaders that took upon the call, when the ones in the past did it, with no fear to die for what they believed in (John the Baptist rings a bell?).
Now part of repenting is making amends for what you did and change it if possible, but not all people do this either. Can Christians become true Christians? Never! The ones that call themselves true Christians are the ones I fear the most. Just remember Hitler.

The difference is that everyone makes mistakes. The word says we all fall short sometimes. By not being a True christian what I mean by that is someone that claims Christianity then goes out and lives for the devil. But still says their a Christian. You can't live like the devil and walk around saying your a Christian and expect people to believe what you say. Your life is the only Bible some people read and if you aren't being a "true" christian and living the life God wants you to live it will cause people to not believe there are good Christian people out there living or trying their best to live the way God wants them too. I didn't mean to offend by it I am sorry and ask your forgiveness if I offended.

If you begin to define "true Christians" and "false Christians" by the name over the door of the church they attend, they you will have had very hard time finding any "true Christians". There is not a church out there that has not had some kind of an issue, sin, false doctrine, or something at some point in its history.
But if you define "true Christian" or "false Christian" as individuals whose lifestyle either shows (or not) that Christ is real, then there are lots and lots of "true Christians". The overwhelming number of people who are Christians are people who sincerely want to do good, try their best to live good lives, to respect others, and to do something worthwhile and lasting in the world. Even if it is nothing more than love their spouse or raise their children to be moral people. I am sure that in your lifetime you have meet such people. And probably many of them you did not even realize that they were.
Unfortunately, anyone can call themself a Christian. And you get idiots like Eric Rudolph who blow up buildings in the name of God, or Jimmy Jones' who lead people off into the jungle to be raped, abused and finally massacred. I hope that no one would consider such people to be "true Christians". Nothing in their lifestyle or actions support the teachings of Jesus.
So what a person does something that is obviously evil, and in direct oppositions to the beliefs of the Christian faith, it should not be unreasonable to be able to say such people are not true Christians.

I would not so much say that they are not a "true Christian". My guess is they lost sight of what is right and what God has called them to do and instead went out on their own free will. Everyone makes bad choices at some point or another. I am a Christian, and although I don't murder or steal, I still screw up. . .sometimes run my mouth too much. For me being a Christian is a constant journey of learning and maturing. I am every so thankful for the mercy and grace that I have accepted through the blood of Jesus Christ, because although I am far from perfect I am redeemed.

Show me where it says that in the Bible?
Can I presume that being Christan = being saved? and doing bad = not doing good? These are very slight differences that may not matter, but I wanted to be clear.
Now, show me the hundreds of passages that show me the other side of who is good enough. Start with Romans 3:10 (There is none righeous, no, not one). So, nobody is good enough. We're all sinners. Yes, all of us. Even the Pope, even Mother Theresa, even me.
What's worse is that the penalty of our sin is death, but God loves us so much, that He's already paid that penalty by sending His son to die for us. (trite, but true).
Accepting Christ as the payer of our debt is the way into the doors of Christianity, but what about people who call themselves Christian who continue to do bad things? This is the crux of your question.
Now, move onto Romans 6. There are dozens of passages explaining that once saved, we are new creatures. We have new desires. We take off our old bodies and put on new ones. We should no longer desire doing 'bad things', but there is a progression to this type of life. Even Paul confessed not being the person he knew he needed to be.
The big thing to catch here is people who call themselves Christian, but don't live like it on a regular basis. Sin, if there be any in our lives, must only be a place that is visited briefly but quickly returned from in repentance. Living in sin and claiming to be a Christian is also addressed in the Bible. These people should be confronted in love and truth. Believe me, I could go on and on.

Everyone does things wrong. What makes a true Christian is trusting in Christ Jesus. People that trust Jesus should pray for the "wisdom" to do what is right and just and make decisions that help people and not hurt them, but, when a Christian does stumble they turn to Christ Jesus.
Believe me on this. When a Christian does wrong, God does take action! Those that not know Jesus can never understand, but, just because a person is a Christian, God does not give a free rein to sin!

Jesus did die for all sins, so this does make one sin extremely an identical through fact the different and we do understand that the guy who did a worst sin would be extra grateful than the guy who did a lesser sin as they're forgiven. We do understand that blaspheming the Holy Spirit is a unforgivable sin. i do no longer understand why you're speaking approximately punishment however, the punishment became washed away by way of Jesus. i might quicker say, that the guy who murdered might get carry of a crown for no longer being a liar and the liar might get carry of a crown for no longer being a murderer. i think what i'm attempting to assert is that the sin is dealt with, rather of finding at this seem on the solid which you would be able to take action as which you may get carry of crowns, which you would be able to then lay on the ft of Jesus. in case you prefer to stroll in this existence with out sin, then you definately could desire to love each and every thing which you do. there is not any regulation in love.

Probably no one will read this because it is so far down the list of answers. But anyway..... It seems to me the person who most strictly adheres to the teaching of the bible are the ones mainline (or the majority of) christians claim are not "true christians." There is quit a bit of ugliness in the bible, but some of these same people reject the ugliness by saying, "you're taking it out of context" or "that was the old testament." If you believe in the bible.... believe in it. It's either all true.... or all lies. I chose the latter.
