People have tried threats and bribes...no luck.

If, tomorrow, the pope said women could join the Jesuits as equals to men in all ways, and the order accepted it, I'd convert.

It's damnably hard to live a life of service as a Wiccan, because no legitimate Wiccan church (501(c)3 org) has the $$$$. I'm in debt up to my eyeballs because I took a low paying research job instead of a high paying sales one.
This very small Papal act would show without a doubt that the Abrahamic god totally existed and I was wrong. I'd even go on the record, write books and tour the world to say I was wrong.

When I was first studying theology, one of my best friends, and I still consider him one, was a Jesuit. My son's old enough to be fine, and my wife agrees that if these changes are made in the Catholic church within the next 48 hours, I'd have to join and she'd accept it as ordained by god.

I'm just saying that if your god wants it, it's not something beyond his reach. He has 47 hours and 59 minutes.

Otherwise, I must assume it's not what he wants, but I gave him a chance.

I wouldn't call it an ultimatum. It's a CHANCE. People here always say give god a chance. I'm giving him one. Sheesh. People won't be happy if you DON'T give him a chance, or if you give him a chance!

I'd give up sex for a life of service, seriously. Sex is not a big deal. I get plenty, and it's wonderful, but if it was give it up and help feed the poor, clothe the naked, teach the illiterate, cure cancer, whatever, I really wouldn't bat an eyelash.

I would *totally* believe in gods that I had no evidence for if I was placed in a position where I could genuinely help others in exchange.

There was a time in my life I had considered becoming a nun but I didn't. I can't remember what changed my mind. I think I enrolled in college and my whole path changed. I ended up getting married ... etc etc. Now I have 2 small children and a man that is My Love so I wouldn't become a priest at this time. I can understand dedicating my life to an all encompassing spiritual life ... I would love to do that but I don't want to give up what I have now.

I suppose you're talking about a priest of Christianity. I can't imagine anything that would make me want to convert. I love my deities with all of my heart--and some of them have been with me since I was a very young child. I can't imagine ever believing in absolute positive and absolute negative---the concept is so foreign to me. I've always had a belief in reincarnation. I just can't imagine living this life and thinking that this was the only life I've ever had or will ever have.

I like putting myself in other people's shoes to see life as they see it, but there are some beliefs that are so ingrained that I honestly can't even imagine any other way. Those beliefs are a part of me.

If you meant your question as to being a priest (or religious leader) of my own religion, I could imagine that but really don't have a desire. I don't want to be a religious leader in my community. I prefer to be one of those who stay a bit in the background helping those who choose to serve the community. I like helping but not leadership (I know that's not very "Leo" of me!). I suppose, in the absence of a leader, if the true need appeared, I would step up to the job if I was capable. Only a sense of responsibility to my gods and my community would be needed.

Putting God to the test like this rarely works. Unfortunantely, the greatest lie in the church is that women are "inferior" to men. Yanking one highly misinterpretted verse out of context, the church has built an entire theology around it. Being a "priest" or "priestess" is more of a lifestyle choice than a position to be held. And let's be honest, there are many priests that don't get paid well either.

So you'd believe and worship the Christian deity if the pope said women wore equal to men? I'm sorry but that's faulty logic. At no point does it demonstrate a god, the pope is the one making decisions. If you haven't believed any of the other decisions he's made, why would you believe this one? Because it benefits you? Hardly a rational decision.

Sounds to me like you would go to any faith that would support you financially. Yes it is hard to live life as a Wiccan (I have been one proudly for over 6 years) but I would never convert to Christianity again, no matter what acts were passed. Too many painful memories

The world needs more Jesuits. They are the only religious leaders who make a lick of sense, frankly.

I got worn out by co-leading a coven of 13! Nothing could get me to be a priest, especially not of a big church!

Can't be done. I love being a pagan Taoist. I can't honestly believe in the Christian deity and I don't agree with Christian morals.

I couldn't be tempted to become a priest, but I might be tempted into the ministry if the latter one in this question existed:
