It does really depend on how old you are. When I was 17, I liked staying in the range of guys 16-19 or so. Now, I'm 30, and dating someone almost 6 years younger than me - but he's more mature in many ways than some of my ex's were! So...it really depends on the maturity level of BOTH of you.

The most important thing is for you to not short-change yourself. Date someone who is good enough for you, who treats you right, and who you share common interests and ideas with. Don't assume that just because a guy is older than you, he's better for you or smarter. A lot of times, older guys will seek out a girl who is a lot younger because the girls who ARE his age won't date him!! If they won't, why would YOU want to??

I think it all depends on both your ages, and your maturity levels. I am against anything that breaks the law... i.e. 24 and 16. But I know a perfectly happy couple of 55 woman and 43 male. Been married for 15 years now.

I do agree with you that at 17 older was more appealing. But you are still under age and shouldn't go much older, only more mature.

Answering your question in a hypothetical way, I would say, why not? I don't belong on the cougar lists yet but I find this question so amusing so I will go ahead and ride on to this. There's nothing wrong dating a younger man for that matter because we all know that the guy is only after the dough and no strings attach to it. well, ive never dated anyone younger than me, and i can totally relate to the thing about finding guys my age immature (almost 90% of my bfs have been older); but there has got be a few guys your age who aren't immature, a few younger guys who are probably more mature than guys your age or older. So I would definitly get to know someone well before I deny the possible attraction becuase of age.

I would never again date someone who is younger than me. Even the older guys act mature. Women tend to mature faster than males. It is hard to find someone who is at the same maturaty level as you. I am 20 years old and my boyfriend is 25 and he acts like he is 19. It kind of gets on my nerves but its better than being with someone who is 18 acting like he is 12. I just find it hard to find someone who has a good head on their shoulders, and is willing to act his age rather than his "shoe size." I notice though that the country boys are alot sweeter and will try to make you happy all the time and know when they are in the wrong. But all guys are different. Its hard to say these days.

I remember as a teenage boy girls like you were a constant source of frustration, always yearning for someone more mature, oblivious to the fact that most of the time older guys just wanted a young girl to fulfill their fantasy and that there were plenty of good guys your own age, you just weren't looking hard enough.

I have no problem dating younger women.
