Chinese Cuisine: Stick with steamed items. Broccoli and Shrimp, Chicken etc. are good and if they serve brown rice that is even better.
Pizza: Not exactly the healthiest of foods but if you are going to eat it then load it up with lots of veggies. A Veggie Lover's pizza is really good.
Diner's or Fast Food: Clear Soups, if you gotta eat a burger, exclude the cheese and the mayo and opt for mustard instead. Try to avoid fried food.
Try to be careful when you eat out. Find a place that you love and you trust and frequent there until you are able to cook on your own. To be honest you really don't know what is going into your food unless you are preparing it yourself. And even then you have to be careful.
I had to go on a mainly vegetarian diet (some chicken on occasion, dairy and a little bit of fish) due to health reasons and I have dropped at least 20lbs in the last 3 weeks (diet and exercise). So if you can stand it, I say go for it.

I would suggest ordering a salad or low-cal entree from the menu. If you want a bit more than just a simple salad, try adding some grilled chicken. If you have access to a microwave, you might try some "lean cuisine" or other diet type pre-made/frozen meals. Some are good, some are not. It's a matter of personal taste. Best wishes!

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Since you are trying to lose weight I would use nutritional shakes to replace breakfast and lunch. Eat protein snacks between meals. Avoid meals and snacks containing more than 5 grams of fat and 10 grams of sugar. Its difficult to eat out and still eat healthy. Avoid fast foods and fried foods. Many restaurants have added healthy choices to their menu because so many people are looking for healthier meals. You should be able to be selective and find a healthy meal for dinner. Good Luck.
