in english-speaking countries, when they say an "oven", does it necessarily refer to a micro-wave oven?

Thanks for the answer!

I don't know about other countries, but in the USA, "oven" does not mean a microwave oven, ever. Almost 100% of the time, an "oven" means an oven (the thing under the stove), and a microwave oven is referred to as just a "microwave."

Hope that helped!

Nope. I live in Indiana, and as far as I know, whenever
someone says oven, they mean an oven...for baking and such. When referring to a microwave oven, we just say
microwave and never add the oven. Hope this helps!

Americans say oven when they refer to an actual oven with heating coils inside, and say microwave when they refer to a microwave oven.

Nope when you say oven, it still means the "conventional" oven used for baking, be it for residential, those beneath the stoves, free-standing or those commercial beheamoths they use for bread and pizza. They need liquified petroleum gas or electricity to work.

People usually say microwave for the microwave oven.

No i could also be the oven that comes with a stove. It could also be a seperate meaning if they say someone has a bun in the oven. That means a female is pregnant.

no, it is more likely that it refers to a regular oven. If someone said "oven" to me, I would assume they are talking about the kind you can bake and stuff in (is that called a convection oven?)... "microwave" refers to a microwave oven.

It is the CONVENTIONAL OVEN when you say oven, convection is a different kind of oven.

Microwave is still called microwave here.

Here in the USA, an oven is usually a standard gas or electric oven.

A microwave oven is usually simply referred to as "a microwave."

Then again, there's slang...

"A bun in the oven" or
"Something in the oven"

might mean: "pregnant."

If they do not specifically say "microwave oven", then they mean a regular (convection) oven.
