Because the sales tax rate would have to be boosted to around 35% to replace the revenue from the other taxes.

The sales tax that you pay on items you buy goes to the state. Taxes to other entities go for different purposes. With the state, the state legislature chooses how they'll tax people, through sales tax, income tax or both.

how do you think we support all of the people who are on disability, social security, and welfare......

what about the war in Iraq, missions in Afganistan, money to Katrina survivors, money for roads, money to pay govt employees, the list goes on and on
