It really depends on how much you can afford. If the girl loves you it won't matter how big or small the diamond is as long as it comes from the heart.
Good luck....

I honestly think you can look at it in several different ways.
1. It's a one time thing, for the rest of your life, it's not like you buy a new one every year. Go all out!
2. It shouldn't matter as long as it's from the heart and doesn't turn your finger green!
3. It's a proven fact that Wal-Mart and K-Mart have better quality diamonds than those big fancy retail stores. You can get a beautiful ring for 70% off at K-Mart....if you can deal with the fact that your wedding/engagement ring came from K-Mart. Some people can't.
4. If you get to pick out your own ring you're one of the lucky ones! Don't worry about the cost. Personally, I wouldn't spend over $1300 if I were the guy. There's honestly no reason to.
5. It's a great idea to spend a little more and get the whole set (his included) that way they match and you're not out any more money along with all the other wedding arrangements!
HTH!! Best wishes!

My husband spent $99. He left the receipt in his car. This was in 2002. But I'm glad he didn't spend a fortune. There are other more important things to spend money on. I'm not one to wear expensive things anyway. Our wedding rings also cost about that. I know people that don't have engagement rings, and they are happily married. Whatever you do, don't go into debt for the rings. Not a good way to start a life together. Don't go in debt for anything except maybe a car and home loan. Otherwise pay for everything up front if you want to start out on good footing. If your girlfriend wants something expensive that you can't afford, you may want to reconsider the whole relationship. By the way, my engagement ring came from a jeweler and our wedding bands we got at Wal Mart. They are perfectly good rings. I haven't had to get the prongs tightened yet, either. My brother and sister in law at the time spent a fortune on their rings, and she was always needing the prongs tightened. The cheaper ones last longer.

While he's never said so, I'm pretty sure my engagement ring cost less than $25. And I really don't care.
It's what you can afford and what the lady would like to wear and sport on her finger for the rest of her life. I wanted something simple, and hate the idea of spending that much money on a ring when I'd rather have a new computer.
Make it personal, that's what matters more than money.

Traditon says that you should spend two months salary on it. However, this dates back to the days when the whole purpose of the engagement ring was to show the brides family what level of luxury he could afford to suppourt his bride.
This isn't the case anymore where some women are actually the breadwinners. Pick something from the heart that suits her tastes and will not put you into debt starting out your lives together. Its all about the love behind it, if she not a golddigger she will be more impressed with a thoughtful propsal that you plan well than tossing a big ring at her.

Honey it's whatever your pocket can handle, it should be your love for her/him that counts the most and theres no price on that because it is so expensive. My engagement ring cost 5 thousand dollars and to tell you the truth i would have settle for something less and we could have used the rest of the money for a nice vacation. so don't worry about it. if she/he loves you it shouldn't matter how much it cost.

Depending on if you have a wedding ring that attatches. if not the wedding ring is the pricy one. lol. no They have BEAUTIUL rings for cheap. it isn;t the price it is the thought. My ring was 300.00 and I LOVE IT. my engagement was only 150.00 and I LOVE IT TOO. And I picked them out. and his ring was cheaper and he picked his out. money doesn't make any one happy I don;t car ewhat anyone says the only thing that makes someone happy is people thinking of them. so I think a nice ring for what ever you can afford. If she loves you shell love it.

First of all i just want to say congratulations! You don't really have to put a price on the ring, becuase you can find gorgeous rings at really cheap prices depending on where you go. More than likely she'll like it no matter what... ♥Hope I helped♥

You shouldn't have to take out a loan for an engagement ring or use a credit card.
