laxatives do NOT make you lose weight - they only get rid of waste inside you. plus if taken on a daily basis they can cause more problems than solve.

Its never a good idea to take laxatives in order to lose weight. It will work, but she could cause serious damage to her bowels. Not to mention how painful it will be needing to go to the bathroom all day long. If she also has irritable bowel syndrome, then laxatives will only make it worse. Seriously, dissuade her from doing this, and encourage her to start a healthy eating and exercise plan.

she certainly will. She will regret such an action for what will remain of her life after that. IBS doesn't get along well with laxatives, and her intestines can become seriously inflammed. Besides, any weight she loses will simply stack right back on with additional pounds when she realizes what she has done and stops the laxatives. The ONLY way to lose weight permanently and effectively is to control the diet and increase physical activity.

Try a cleansing diet! I did and lost 11 pounds and 21 inches in only 9 days. I was very happy with the results and continued on the program and lost 29 pounds in 5 weeks. This is the fastest I have ever lost with other diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Slimfast etc…. Cleansing works by removing impurities from your body. You get impurities from your food (pesticides, preservatives, food additives, colorings) water, chemicals, pollution, medications, alcohol, hormones that the animals you eat were fed etc….YUCK! The impurites get coated with fat and remain in your body. To remove the fat, you have to remove the impurites. This system worked for me, maybe it can work for you too. You can check out the website or call this toll free number 1-877-587-4647 for more info. The program is not cheap, but it is worth every penny since it works and keeps you motivated. Good luck! Taking laxatives to lose weight is idiotic.
Take her to see her doctor. She needs to get professional advice, especially for something as drastic as this.
I suggest YOU look into Weight Watchers for her. It's a great way to lose weight AND get the support you need.

Tell not to do it!!! This can cause irreparable damage. Does she thing IBS will get better if she is moving her bowels more often and more forcefully? Have her talk to a physician or certified nutritionalist who can provide her with a proper diet that will help take off the weight and limit her bouts with IBS.

She should not use laxatives to lose weight even if she didn't have IBS.
