Usually yawning only occures when the brain lacks the proper amount of oxygen but also when you see others do it or get board or tired. When you yawn I think the blood flow of your circulatory system slows down dramatically thus only allowing a less amount of oxygen in your blood verses when you were active consuming lots and lots of oxygen. Saying that i think that it wouldn't be possible to yawn in your sleep because generally you have already slowed the blood flow enough to keep the oxygen levels consistent to your current activity. I do believe that the lack of enough oxygen in your blood triggers the brain to tell you to open your mouth so you can get the oxygen you need when you sleep. Thus you have the condition of snoring.

Im not sure, but i dont think it is.
The purpose of a yawn is to simulate the brain with extra oxygen. When your sleeping, you entertain very little cellular respiration. Meaning you dont use up much Oxygen.
a.k.a. you would have no need to yawn.

Yes, it is possible. I have witnessed my 11 yr old son do it for about the 3rd time now. He just yawned twice when I went in to check him and my 12 yr old. He's been asleep since 9:40 pm and it's now 11:22pm. I came on her to find out why he might be doing that. I'm worried about apnea problems.

I think its possible... no one knows for sure why people yawn, but people think that its either a) a learned social cue signifying boredom or being tired, b) an effort to get more oxygen into your lungs or c) a remnant from evolution where people used to bare teeth at eachother to signify dominance.

can no longer see why no longer. Yawning is between the techniques the physique makes use of to get extra Oxygen circulating. this is why you yawn whilst your drained - the innovations needs extra oxygen to function so it triggers your respiration equipment and tells you to yawn.
