I have been feeling badly lately. Often very tired. Feet/ankles sometimes swell. B/P slightly elevated. 3 wks ago I got dizzy and felt tight chest. I ended up over night in the ER. Passed all the cardiac tests (blood, ekg, x-ray, stress) but was so tired. It happened again this weekend, I woke up at 4.30 feeling bad. My blood pressure (based on mom's machine) was 177/100. So off to ER again. Nothing.
I have no insurance so all of this plus follow ups I've been told to have with various docs is stressing me even more!
I'm a 50 yo female, no gallbladder (that went last year), and no health issues except overweight.
What I should ask my doc to check?

someone asked and yes, I am menopausal. Estimate less than 5 cycles in past 2 years. Last was at least 8 months ago (Is that post menopausal?). I'm told this can't affet b/p, but can it cause my other symptoms?

has anyone done a 24 hour UFC (urine free cortisol). cortisol is rarely checked and can throw your entire endocrine system out of wack (everything from your glucose levels to your acth, which is your adrenal output and can effect your heart). having this tested will allow for another differential diagnosis, cushing's, which is mostly defined by having excessive amounts of cortisol do to either taking a steroid like prednisone or having an adrenal or pituitary tumor. i recommend if you can trying to see an endocrinologist, and i hope you get to feeling better.

Hmm.. your glucose is high, as is your white blood cell count. Your WBC could indicate infection, but it's still not high enough to be serious. How long after you ate was your glucose taken? Was it within a few hours, or longer then that? I ask because I'm concerned about diabetes. Your glucose shouldn't be that high if you have just eaten normally, even a few hours after you eat. Your blood pressure is a little high, but not bad.. and the number they worry about is below normal, so that's fine. I would worry about either an infection of some kind, or diabetes. Usually, with this kind of diabetes, they can control it with medication and/or diet. Dizziness is a sign of low blood sugar. Did they check your sugars the first time you went to the ER? Have you been drinking and going to the bathroom more in the last little while? These are both signs of diabetes.

wbc, neutophils, lymphocytes, are all high...which usually mean your body is fighting somesort of infection. What what you hgb, hct, electrolytes like K+, CA+ etc...you need a full check up, this could be stress related. All of your cholesterol is good, better then mine...which shows decrease chance of heart disease. Have you gone through menapause yet??? You see there is so much I could ask you and need answers for to give you a better answer. My suggestion is to go see a doctor...let them know everything. ER doctors are great, but they tend to focus on what brought you there and don't run all the tests and don't always hunt down the problem...because you don't have insurance. Sorry but that's true. You blood pressure is high by the way...and that can cause you to feel really bad. Good luck!!

Well you have a little elevated white count so you might have an infection with the increase lymphocytes it could be allergy related secondary infection, because the sed rate is high which is related to inflammation.

Sorry but also with your blood pressure, your overweight and need to eat better and try to slowly exercise.

Menopause and Stress can cause all these symptoms and blood test results. You have to allow your body to self regulate through the Climacteric and expect a bumpy ride. This coming from the one who was hearing noises last night, got no sleep and woke up drowning in perspiration.

Looks like your protein is low that explains why your feet and ankles swell. Try to eat foods that are rich in protein or better yet drink milk. Make sure that you eat a proper diet. I think you need to lose all that weight. that will help with your blood pressure as well.

I know very little about "all things medical" but could you possibly have a mild form of diabetes?
