I work at Orlando Intl Airport. But I used to live in New Haven, CT right next to Tweed (HVN). They have been talking expansion for years and I think it's finally coming to pass.
They are going to expand the main runway from 5600' to 7200' to allow for bigger aircraft.....right now they are classified as a constrained airport.
My question is this:
Since the runway will be longer and the threshold will be moved on either end, does this mean that the navigation approach coordinates will also change for ILS landing?

This new length will change the glide slope on approach so I was just curious.

Thank you

It depends on how they expand the runway. If both runways have ILSs, then for sure the ILS on the new side will need to move. If they expand on only one side of the runway, then the ILS on the old side might not change unless the touchdown point is moved, like if the runway is widened. If they only expand one end of the runway, my guess would be the old end could end up being the same. Many airports use the same ILS for opposite runways, so the tower will just "flip" them to the appropriate runway in use. So unless the centerline of the runway changes, they are likely to not move the horizontal portion of the ILS. They will likely keep the same approach path angle unless there are obstacles that hinder this zone. I hope this helps.

Yes this will change the coordinates and the antenna locations for GS and localizer. These by nature are fixed 1000' beyond each end. ALS will also have to be moved.

The aircraft may not see a change, but much work will be done to modify the localizer antenna array to work with addition.

Yes, it will change ILS procedures.
