Let's be a little more specific even than that --
I build a device that can scan every atom in my body, and build a perfect duplicate.
Is the duplicate me?
Yes. In every way.
However!
Since the duplicate and I cannot be in the same spot at the same time, our experiences will of necessity be different after that point and we will be separate personages, though we still have the same origin.

Non of the above seem to grasp cloning. No, it would not be you. There are things other than DNA that determine who we are, environment (both internal and external) will change how our DNA is expressed and vice versa. A clone can NEVER be you, a clone would be a complete and entirely different human being. It would be akin to an identical twin born years later. Cloning doesn't NOT create lesser half-human beings. Y'all know that a biology textbook wouldn't actually bite you right?

Not exactly. Memories are not the same thing as experiences. His experiences would shape him into someone different.
That clone would have his own destiny, his own temperament, his own soul, accountability for his own actions, and for these and other reasons would not be exactly equal to the "original".

pretty much but what was the clone exposed to that I wasn't, environmentally speaking? It could have a novel mutation that makes it much different than me.

Not really, but then again "you" is always changing so it really doesn't matter.
