Confess your sins against God, "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

Believe that Jesus died for those sins so that you would not have to suffer the consequences of eternal damnation for those sins, and that His blood, being pure and holy and righteous washes away the stains of sin in your life, cleansing you and making you a new creation that you might be found worthy to stand before the Lord your God.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him would not die but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Believe that Jesus rose again on the third day, for without the resurrection there is no gospel. paul writes; "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

Paul emphasizes the importance of resurrection here, "And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not" (I Corinthians 15:14-15).

And remember that there is nothing that we can do ourselves to save ourselves. If there was any sort of "works" that we could perform for salavation's sake, we are such a sin filled people that we would actually boast about it. See Ephesians 2:8-9. It is purely by the grace of God alone that our hearts would ever seek His face.
